Questionable issues
« on: June 02, 2011, 03:43:50 AM »
I am a new player of about 7 weeks.

Here is a summary of the questionable senarios I have personally witnessed.  They are:

One incident occurred when I was playing as a T-34 & fired at point blank range at another T-34...my 2 shells hit directly into the turret but disappeared.  No explosion, no nothing...like I never fired. This same opponent took MANY direct hits from another player in a T-34 from the rear & a P-38 dive bombing all with NO DAMAGE. There were over 15 craters around the unscathed opponent & under the spot he occupied. C'mon now.

What prompted me to voice my concerns, just now I was flying a formation of B-17's at 16K with no one around me which I constantly confirm visually and via the map.  I was shot down in two shots by a 109.  Two shots! ??????  Credit was given to D**clove. He appeared totally out of nowhere.  Do opponent players have a cheat to project themselves to a target altitude?  If so this renders your game very one sided.

In another incident I was in Lanc looking out the top turret when a 109 just appeared 800 yds away from me.  I mean to say one sec. it was clear skies then poof, he was there.  Guess what...I was dead.  This is very frustrating to a "new" player who is trying to have fun & learn fairly.

Lastly, I have poured direct hits into many a plane or pounded many a tank etc. but little damage sometimes, if any, occurs.  The opponent on the other hand makes "one shot, one kill" move on me & I am dead.  I am NOT the only player complaining about this growing "one shot, one kill" problem.  Case in point, earlier today I am in a Goon, "one shot" from a Spit tore off my right wing.  A single .50 cal ripped off my wing...one round.  C.mon.

I play another mmorpg game which was at one time also riddled with cheats, hacks, bugs and abusers.  The only solution was to continually issue a new "client" patch which has virtually eliminated the problem and ban third party "assist" programs. Just a suggestion AH.

In the meantime I subscribed for 6 months & I will continue to enjoy the game but honestly I refrain now from interfacing with other players because of the unchecked rampant cheaters.

Record films and submit them. Reading the forum posting rules is also a good idea.

You will find HTC takes cheating very seriously, and it is incredibly rare that it takes place in game.  I have only personally witnessed it once in years of playing, it was quickly addressed, and it was that sort of activity that got the H2H service closed.

Here's pretty much how this works:  Unless you see someone firing 200 rockets off at once, they aren't cheating.  You were nearly positively simply out flown, and like most new people have poor gunnery as well as a lack of game experience to understand and see specifically why your shots are not as effective as others.  Where you hit them and your concentration of fire is just as important as hitting them at all.

Some times funky stuff happen [planes zigzagging erratically], but the culprit is obvious: latency.

That being said, email HTC film of the event if you ever have concerns, they've remarked in the past to not make accusations on the forums.

You'll find that the longer you play and the more time you spend with a trainer or just someone knowledgeable about the game you will see these acts of "cheating" less and less, because you will understand what happened.  Have fun and don't hesitate to ask questions.

The more you film and post it for people to analyze the quicker you will learn and the more cheating allegations can be put to rest.

You should have ended the thread there. Learn situational awareness and learn simple facts of online gaming such as sometimes hit packets are delayed by net lag so that a big burst of shots seems to hit like 1 shot.

Just because you suck and have no SA doesn't mean people are cheating.

Happens from time to time..I was once in a T34 ...base got taken and I had bombs dropped on me...iL2's by the dozen...and GV's...I was taking hits all over...I got tracked and was just swivelling around to shoot the GV's...I ended up losing the other track  before I finally died....I don't have the time patients or know how to cheat..but i'm sure you would have cried fowl on that one...I was even chatting to all that were trying to kill me on 200 afterwards...it was just ..one of those moments

Quite often a single con in their own sector/dar ring will not put up a dar bar...this is usually only when two up......as for the deaths....well taters hurt and if you hit right BOOM dead without time to say whaaaaaaa

In another incident I was in Lanc looking out the top turret when a 109 just appeared 800 yds away from me.  I mean to say one sec. it was clear skies then poof, he was there.  Guess what...I was dead.  This is very frustrating to a "new" player who is trying to have fun & learn fairly. perhaps he came from below you and just popped up into view when he was 800 from you...top turret = view of above plane for the most part

C.mon.spit = 20mm hispano not 50cal...and I'm sure you thought it was a single round...buuuutttt...yeah...bu t you have been here for some time now...so maybe I'm wrong....just because you see hit sprites doesn't mean a good hit...if they are all over the show you have just air conditioned the plane..... set convergence and hit in as close to the same spot and you to will see the planes go down...shoot the canopy...cause that's where the pilots head is   and boom...bullet to the head equals insta death.

I play another mmorpg game which was at one time also riddled with cheats, hacks, bugs and abusers.  The only solution was to continually issue a new "client" patch which has virtually eliminated the problem and ban third party "assist" programs. Just a suggestion AH.

The OP should review recorded films as I have no doubt he will learn where he is going wrong. I can honestly say that when I first started playing years ago having moved over from Air Warrior, there were times when I was in disbelief. Occassions when I was shot down by aircraft that appeared "out of nowhere" or found other peoples aircraft/tanks indestructable. So I started to record more of these incidents for submission to HTC.

The vast majority of the time I found that I had simply not looked around well enough and in reality I got bounced by the enemy I simply didn't see until it was too late. As for killing tanks, if you practice offline you will soon find the weak spots and learn to shoot at them. Simply hitting the tank is not good enough unless it is in the right spot.

I would not expect to see another post from the OP on this subject until he has some evidence to support his "claims". The frustration he feels will I hope, be replaced by a realisation that he has a lot to learn.

Mensa's right about the cheating. I don't recall ever even seeing it myself.

My advice is to follow the positive comments in this thread and when you feel like something is wrong, go review the film. Be sure to turn on the auto record so you don't forget to activate it before each flight. In the mean time, since you can't review the films while AH is open (at least I have issues doing it on same computers, but I have a second one nearby I use for things like that) I'd suggest complaining to your squad to vent some steam. Don't let it get out of control (I'm guilty) and send a PM calling the person a cheat. This is one of the few games that I trust that everything possible is done to keep players like that out. That doesn't mean bugs don't happen or funky things occur simply because of the way the game works, such as a bomber drone blinking to a new location because one of the formation was destroyed. Stuff like that happens.

You want frustration? Try shooting an M3 several times with a Tiger and watch it keep rolling  :D

I used to be like that.. I thought EVERYONE was cheating!!!   :O

After a year or so of playing I realized that it was me who sucked, not them who were cheating!

Seriously, turn on AUTO RECORD and anytime you see something fishy make sure you save the film and then go back and watch it.  In the film you can see the actions unfold from THEIR point of view and you will quickly realize that there was no cheating involved.  In virtually every case when something "didn't seem right" I looked over the film and saw the complete opposite of what I though was going on... no cheating involved.

Since you are new you might not know that there are some folks here that forget they were new once themselves. Don't let it get to you. There are some very helpful people here too.
It was good advice to film your sorties. Not only can you study them to see and learn from your mistakes, but if something happens you can't explain you can send it in to the team at HTC and they will clear it up for you.
Hang in there guy and welcome to the addiction.

omg fellas, looking at the symptoms the op describes it sounds like someone has a flakey connection and/or an overloaded system...either he's running into people with slow internet connections, or he has one himself.

he's describing rubber bullet syndrome and lag symptoms...considering the little bit of time he's been here, he probably isn't even aware such things can occur.

cjpedrido...post some information about your computer using dxdiag from a fresh boot and with anti-virus turned off. the only sections from the dxdiag you need to post are system, video, sound...nothing else.

what kind of internet connection are you using and are you using wireless on your home network? what kind of anti-virus are you using and do you disable it before you get into ah?

yup! dead on. I bet OP has 60+ processes running and a dozen or more icons on the taskbar=( EVERYONE with less than an UBER rig on fiber optic has experienced this, but you can reduce 99% of if by reading skuzzys connection tips,(on the BBS under technical help, at the top in BOLD )and take the TIME to READ all the JUNK processes that needs to be TURNED OFF. Vista comes outta the box with 65 proccesses running, you can kill ATLEAST 30 of those.   :aok
In future, might wanna ASK whats goin on, before you make accusations.....otherwise you get AHole remarks like this...
