Request join system
« on: June 05, 2011, 10:31:09 PM »
Seriously folks, there has to be a way to stop the flood of spammed "Request Join's" from jerks.  Just make it a GUI option to simply ignore all invites where they don't even show in the text buffer.  If there is already a way to do this.  Can it please be made more readily apparent on how to do this?  I know this is an old topic.  I tried squelching the two that were doing it "c50" and some goof account named "1629" with no score...no joy the requests just kept coming.  So at least make squelching ignore the account...the ACCOUNT not the displayed name in all ways not just text and chat, but the join requests as well.  So they cannot just change name and continue on.  Personally, think the simple way would be to just let there be a toggle in GUI to set to allow requests to be displayed or to turn them completely...COMPLETELY off.

Why can't you just ignore them when they come in the text buffer?  Seems you're asking for something that really isn't needed.  If it's that annoying to you, film it, report it and let HTC deal with the offenders.

Have you reported the guy(s)? I agree with your wish though, there ought to be a some sort of "Stop Trolling" check-box.

If you're not in a bomber, let them join.

I think I've gotten one request, ever. He didn't stay in the plane long.

Not commenting on the wishlist request but just wanted to make sure you knew about ".showjoin 0" that at least sends the join request to the text buffer rather than an onscreen pop-up and it's a lot easier to ignore.

I guess he has too much time to read.... keeps getting interrupted by join requests.

.showjoin 0  turns off the popup join box and puts it in the text buffer... you have to /.accept <name??> if you want to allow them to join.

yeah... what soulyss said...

Knowing how the text and message box system works, I still agree with this request. Have the option to simply shut either "join" message method off.

Just in case people are too wrapped up in the text buffer to simply ignore a join request, does squelching a player also squelch their join requests?

I thought it did, but according to the OP it doesn't.  I was getting multiple requests from the same people and finally I squelched them and the requests stopped but it may just have been good timing.  I actually had the idea of accepting one of the requests as a I took of in a single seat fighter and squelching them at the same time but by the time I typed in the .accept command they had moved on to someone else. :)

I get those requests often because I do stupid things like fly a plane noe and land very close to strats/HQ to make them flash or tank the strats/hq and then leave keyboard to work on an engine or around the house as the assets flash.

They are trying to find out what people are driving or who it is though a spy who's on your country can find your location anyway and tell the side he is spying for where he sees the green dot.

That brings me to a question.......would it be possible that friendly dots under dar would not show up at all so we can eliminate enemy spies relaying the positions of dots he sees?

This works but the problem is you have to do it every time you change to a different arena.

Not sure, but the game does track it the preference in some fashion.  I haven't had to enter the .showjoin 0 command in a long, long time.  Not sure if it's per arena, or per aircraft/vehicle, or what but it does track it some way.

been here for a good while now and all the request I get goes straight to the text buffer

if you think you need to do it everytime you change to a different arena.....then just go to each arena and type the .showjoin 0 command

then you should never see it again........ regardless of what arena you are in

yep Soulyss, I think it is tied in to the world.cfg configuration file or one of those cfg files in the settings
