They were my pics of the bezillion I took Sunday. That first pic of Fifi turned out a lot better than I thought it would. As the show was ending and the sun getting lower in the sky it was hard getting good pics of the bombers as it had cleared out a good bit. Direct sunlight is generally bad for photography which is why these pics aren't as good as they could be. I admit to adjusting the levels in these to brighten up the shadows.
Funny thing about the lighting. The show ends. I grab a quick bite as I have over an hour's drive home. Pretty drive tho through SE PA. Anyway I'm parked at the admin offices to the airport over behind the control tower you can see in some of these shots. I get on a bus and it stops at my lot first. What are the chances? But there's a lot of traffic and I'm in no hurry to get home. Nice day so I thought I'd walk over to the fence and see the airfield layout from the opposite side. The sun's getting low. Golden hours as they say. As I get to the fence I look left and see Fifi on mag check at the other end of the runway getting ready to take off. No shot I get back to my truck to get my camera. Damn! Damn! Damn! Oh well. It would have blown that first pic away. Perfect light and I was a lot closer. Close enough to feel all 8800 horsepower as it went past.
