He has a front loader lol... This happened about 5-10min away from my house on the other side of the boro. its too funny and stupid to not post it.

BIG BEAVER -- The theft of scrap metal in Big Beaver led to an all-out attack against the alleged thief, according to state police.

A state police report said the incident happened around 7:30 p.m. Monday when police received a phone call from Joseph Franer, 52, no street address given, of Wampum, who yelled he wanted to shoot someone and then hung up, the report said.

Attempts by the police to call Franer back were unsuccessful, the report said.

Police then received a call from Leslie Jerome Dallas, 59, of 113 Fairlane Blvd., Big Beaver, who said there was a "crazy individual" who was using a large front-loader to destroy his vehicle in front of his house, the report said.

Police arrived and learned that the incident began when Franer allegedly found Dallas stealing scrap metal that Franer kept at his mother's residence at 7411 Big Beaver Blvd., the report said. Franer found Dallas trying to cut up a piece of metal with an electric handheld wood saw, the report said.

In total, Dallas had stolen $800 worth of Franer's scrap that was found on Dallas' property, police said.

Franer became very upset and threw a hammer at Dallas, but missed hitting him, the report said. Franer also got hold of the saw and threw it at Dallas, and hit him in the foot, the report said.

Franer, who is white, then yelled racial slurs at Dallas, who is black, and then picked up a pipe and broke the windshield and front passenger window of Dallas' van.

At that point, Dallas left, and that's when Franer called police, the report said.

After calling police, Franer drove his front-loader through the woods to Dallas' property, where he used the bucket of the front-loader to lift Dallas' Ford Focus about 20 feet in the air and then dropped it to the ground, the report said. Franer then used the bucket to compress the roof of the car, the report said.

Franer then drove back to his mother's residence and waited for  police to arrive, the report said.

Dallas was charged with theft. Franer was charged with ethnic intimidation, simple assault, criminal mischief, harassment, disorderly conduct, trespass by motor vehicle and damage to property by motor vehicle.

Both men were charged Wednesday by mail.

The Times was unable to contact Franer, and Dallas did not return a message left at his home.

scrap metal can be VERY expensive. I had a friend get 200$$ from a bed load of scrap he just collects from dumpsters and industrial areas.

my uncle has gotten a check in the low mid 4 digits range for a bed full of brake rotors. Now i will admit, he was slightly overload with a GVW over 10,000lbs for his early (3/4 ton) 90's dodge ram

Ethnic intimidation? What the hell?  At risk of striking #14 I must say "ethnic" has nothing to do with this. He wasn't looking for particular ethnic groups that he may intimidate, he was using racial slurs against a thief that was stealing from him. His motive for intimidation was not because the suspect was black. 

Only in 21st Century America can a man trespass on your property and sue you for hurting his feelings.

11 dollar's a hunderd here . Made over 5000.00 in the past month on scrap . Just got a old cotton picker to scrap and it should bring aroud 4000.00 . If I can ever get it cut up .
Never had any think like that around here but I carry a handgun .

Scrap theft is really common around here, but im actually seeing more and more where people break into houses (forclosed properties) and steal the copper pipes, brass fittings and anytype of metal they can get their hands on. I had a claim  (im a Large loss Property Insurance adjuster)a month ago where where the homeowners went out of town on vacation, and when they came back, all the aluminum siding was stolen off their home, the basement was broken into and all the copper t/o the home was taken.The theives didnt bother to turn the water off, total loss was about $102K. Crazy stuff
