re-vamp 3D models for ships
« on: June 14, 2011, 08:27:29 AM »
pretty simple wish here.

ships are long-overdue for a re-model. i'm pretty sure they are still at AH1 standards.

i think now that we have new fields and town objects, ships should come next

weren't they remodeled a couple of years ago?
They call it "common sense", then why is it so uncommon?

from what i've observed they still have 2D models. for instance, on destroyers/cruisers, the anchor is "painted" on the side, with no texture.

this is what you call a texture. You want it to be to be modeled in 3D. I'm not sure it is a good use of CPU power to render a detailed Anchor in a heavy CV battle.

The CV's have been redone a short while ago, I definitely +1 your request but it will go nowhere.

Maybe you should see what they looked like before they were updated, they look beautiful in comparison.

I would agree with this.  The ships look very nice now, in comparison that is.

Ok, I must not have been around when they were updated. It was just a simple, harmless observation. Somewhere down the line tho (1-2 years maybe) i think there should be variety in the cv models. I.e. japanese carriers, British etc...

Also, why is the current cv model scaled down from it's real-life counterpart? Could that be an acceptable change?

How about light carriers and escort carriers, too?

honestly i dont think they need remoded though detail is one thing but are you ever going to really appreciate it chances are one of the ppl engaged in the fight will be dead before they even get a chance to take note of it and if ur staring at the anchor on another ship while getting shot at then its a distraction and in which case not recomended.. i just dont see it being of use(unless u could lower the anchor and stop the ship) but carrier types i agree with so +1 on that

i think its good enough they actaully used real ID tags on the ships however... the aircraft lift needs to be put UP i cannot see them launching planes while bringing a plane up....(or landing) and the pittsburgh could use its real paintjob...

CA(heavy cruiser) is CA72(baltimore class heavy cruiser pittsburgh)
CV(carrier vessel) is CV15(essex class carrier randolph)
DD(destroyer) not real but its the USS waffle(read the flag)

(just some random facts)
