:huh  oh that explains a lot...wait, are you sure you're not skylove's shade?

no offense but...just ask anyone who spends a lot of time at furball lake and they will tell you...it's not much of a secret how skylove gets the 2 kill sorties in the tempest...pure and simple picking.

Grizz, please redo your cards after this one.  Thank you

Wow Kingpin, your niece is wise beyond her years. I had her pegged for at least 13-1/2, just based on her complete apathy towards gamesmanship and dedication to rebelling against the establishment.

Having young teens myself, I adore the way she take off behind her field and grabs ~10K before venturing out of the ack. It's cute how she eyeballs all the planes fighting each other then blows through at 500MPH squeezing the trigger for 10 seconds straight at any and all red dots. Of course, immediately diving for the deck and running back to her base after spraying all those mean boys is a sure sign that she's almost brave enough to engage someone that isn't already fighting someone else... someday.

You might want to remind her to spaz a little more on the joystick when she's running back home. Remember, if she's seeing anything beyond a little eyehole surrounded by red or black, she's not doing it right.

I sure hope she continues to entertain us with those cute little interruptions. It's just a shame that the Tempest only carries enough rounds for her to land those famous "2 victories", since every awkward preteen girl longs to hear the words "wtg".

 :rofl Simon. Too funny!  :aok

Ah yes the 'Tempest paradigm' at Furball Lake, priceless. Those little System messages that confirm they are great and skillful for all the world to see and which no one can deny. The 'I killed you therefore I am right' epitome of a results-centred culture. The shortest path between desire and results, endlessly looping through a furball to get 'kills' at very little to no risk to themselves. Twenty four virtual cylinders of skill working away to escape any remotely threatening situation. Perhaps before extending as little as 1.2k for a gentle high Yo-Yo and another HO attempt, if they are feeling particularly brave.

There is a very small handful of skilled Tempest pilots who don't fly like this but few and far between they are. Kingpin, I mean Kingpin's niece (I probably mean that), is simply a protypical example. What a relief we have the Tempest in there so that these griefers, I mean highly skilled and motivated fans of the dogfight can show us what they are made of.

All hail the biggest ruiner of other people's fights and time ever grace the skies of the furball lake. Those about to be picked  :salute you.

skylove's tempest is the easiest plane to kill in the DA  :airplane:

he makes the mistake of after diving to attempt to pick, he'll try to pull straight up into a loop instead of doing the normal pick dive&run technique.

which usually leaves him hanging right in your gunsights for a few seconds.

he also seems to ignore anyone on his six, was winchester one day, thought i'd tail him just to scare him a bit, he just kept flying straight even tho he had a plane 400 off his 6  :huh
i contemplated attempting to collide with him.

skylove couldn't fight his/ her way out of wet Kleenex.  I enjoy watching him/her barreling down on my 6 while entering Earth's atmosphere at Mach 25 and just about 800 out a quick barrel roll turns the tables and he/her gets lit up like a Christmas tree.

Now go play in traffic like a good tempy pilot.  :joystick:

You cruel and heartless b*****d Fudmukkr, that's a 9 year old girl you are torturing there. Think of her development as a human being and future long-term Aces High player. Can't you just fly straight and level and help her achieve her goal of two kills for the sake of humanity? Get with the programme, if you're not flying a Tempest you are a Tempest target drone and nothing more.

I am going to post on the wishlist immediately to suggest the minimum number of kills needed for a System Victories Landed message be reduced to 1 when flying a Tempest.

Hey gents,

Good news.  Turns out my niece isn't the one flying Tempests at the lake landing two-kill sorties, after all.  What she had actually said was that they had gone to the “DENTIST by mistake” and that "gramma didn't understand it wasn't til two-forty.”  Sorry about the confusion on this.  I guess it's a good thing, given some of the negative feedback about the Tempest in the DA.

She does fly Aces High, though.  But I’d be really surprised if someone of her age and intelligence couldn’t actually land at least 3 per sortie.

/sarcasm

p.s. Thanks for all the comments.  Never would have known about BBS Warrior Trading Cards, otherwise.  Funny stuff.

“DENTIST by mistake”, "A TEMPEST at the Lake". Yes that sounds like a perfectly plausible miscommunication.  :noid

The negative comments aren't about the aircraft specifically but rather towards the way they end up being used. Unfortunately the unlimited availability at the lake, its monster speed, resilience to damage and heavy armament tempt some players to take the shortcut of exploiting the planes more obvious attributes in place of all that tedious learning ACM business. It's an obvious solution in a overly results focussed culture.

The objection is that many players spend a lot of time learning ACM and testing their skills in actual dogfights, only to have those fights ruined by one or more Tempests barrelling flat out through a furball or even just a two plane fight, to shoot anything that falls into their gunsight.

Wasting other player's time, over and over again, and then worst of all talking smack about it or proudly landing 'victories' is likely to make you unloved, shall we say.
