Time for another wish for a Deuce and a half
« on: June 17, 2011, 10:34:29 AM »
The 2 1/2 ton truck was used in every theater during WWII.  In the game maybe you could select one free and carry troops or supplies or tow artillery.  Or for some perks maybe you could have a convoy of five. A convoy could resupply in a hurry and it would also give the jabo folks some targets.
Always try and be the person your dog thinks you are.

+1 specially for convoy. Cant tell you how old it gets trying to get players to do a part in resupply. This will make it so i wont have to bug players...

how about giving the m3 a new supply model. so when you select gv/af supplies, the m3 looks like a supply convoy truck, instead of the troop carrier?

why not just add the truck since it would already be modeled so the M3 could 'look like' the OP's request?

+1 to the Truck thingy idea. The convoy part would be awesome, but I say have it cost a minor amount of perks, say 10 for the whole convoy of 5, and those will be forfitted under all conditions. Otherwise, most people would only run these convoys and it would just be an easy button.

Did somebody say convoy?  If you're gonna have a convoy, you've gotta have this:

Firstly, the current supply system is balanced the way HTC wants it. Thus, if you want to add something that carries more troops or supplies, they've stated that they would raise the requirement to match it...thus hangar-queening the old workhorses.

I see you haven't really looked at how roads work. Convoys have no actual set speed; rather they travel at a rate needed to reach the base in a set amount of time from their spawn point (10min? 15min?). Thus the end of the road is a distance away from the field that gives a realistic speed. I THINK the terrain maker automatically points the roads to the factory complex, but I'm not sure.
So, every base has one road leading to it with finite length and direction...not very effective for player supply. Not to mention the convoys run you off the road like a freight train hitting a sheep.

Maybe the Deuce could have drones like the bombers. Heck, one deuce has 5 drones in a convoy with 50 troops. That would make close air interdiction a much bigger necessity. I hear of the need for artillery, is that a common thought? If so, have a battery of 105mm with drones, etc. More targets to drill.

I think the most enjoyable idea would be trains and bridges. Right now you have to hit ords, troops and fuel to shut down an airfield of Vbase. What about isolating a bases supply routes to include bridges (defended by AAA of course) and if you keep those down for 20 minutes the field loses all ords, fuel and troops and the AAA only has enough ammo for 2 minutes of fire. It would make defending a field much more difficult, and taking a field more exciting.

More realistic as well. A real logistics warfare scenario.

It'd also make base capture require 50 troops, unless HT changed his mind. Which doesn't seem to happen often, honestly. :p

That would be suicide with the current drone trucks that will blow up anything on the road they collide with.
