Battle of Britain Roller Coaster
« on: June 19, 2011, 05:43:02 AM »
Besides AH, my favorite game to play is Roller Coaster Tycoon 3. So earlier this week I decided to make a coaster that I would put up on YouTube, and finally finished the track, and filmed what I have so far.

The overall ride is called Battle of Britain, and it has two coasters that are racing/dogfighting, the left one is Messerschmitt and the one on the right is Spitfire.

Link is here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ItV7XsXsWXA

Also, I don't know if this is the right forum section or not, but I put it here since it's a film and was pretty heavily influenced by this game (I even tried to make the coaster trains fit BoB color schemes, lol)

Well, I had designed Spitfire first, not even thinking of a racing coaster, and then the idea sprung up. Unfortunately, that meant I was pretty restricted with making a track that would race with it and look good. Since in RCT3 you can have custom designed fireworks, I'm going to try to set up "shots" on the trains from the other.

why don't you film an actual AH fight, then view with trails on and make your racing coasters?

The track is made of set pieces, unfortunately, it's not like No-limits which, as the name implies has almost no limits. Also, coasters aren't continuously powered, like planes are.

true all that... and that's where you exercise your engineering skiilz and design creativity... make it so!

its excellent... i love the onversions--corkscrews especially. i like how sometimes they outpace each other on the track. what might be interesting, if you do another one like Battle of Britain, is to design it WITH the two opposing rides in mind in the beginning...it would be cool to have one of the trains/planes coming towards the other one, but veering away at the last second.

just a thought. love it, btw. ive only got the original version, RT1.  :D

Just finished building all the custom supports today, and that's the hardest part with the scenery too, so hopefully will be done soon.
