mmm I think you missed my point, but even so close is not close enough. the golden ratio isnt "about 1.6", it is very precisely defined. if the measured ratio isnt exactly phi (within measurement tolerances), its not phi.

edit: my point was that I could pick an infinite number of measurements on a human body which arent even close to phi. if you find a measurement which looks like phi, its because you ignored all the measurements which dont look like phi. it proves nothing.

edit2: try the finger measurements as shown in the video. if anyone can match the proposed ratios to within 1mm I'll eat my hat.

But then someone will tell you that nature isn't perfect. There are perfect proportions but they are usually distorted by crappy cell division, adapatation, evolution, etc. However, I was waiting for someone to say exactly what you just said.

As for
interesting....im just wondering how you stumbled upon it
My sister showed the 2nd video of the series and I simply subscribed just for the sake of it  :D
Its entertaining to say the least.

Some may not be exact, but why do most measurements come close to phi? Between a certain point? I'm talking within a 1.2-2.0 range, anything beyond that is far off.

if the ratios come out at 1.2-2.0, how do you know the ratios arent based on pi/2? or e/3? or (pick any constant)*(whatever number gives the desired result)?

I've seen a few of these numerology types when I was in college and had to spend time at psych hospital. Listen to some of these guys long enough and you'll believe your mother named you because you were born on a certain date and time.

I tend to agree with Holmes on this although I do like aspect of the bygone civilisations using phi in construction. More importantly to me, when we look at the biological side, is that it doesnt actualy answer anything or make anything any better. Sure we may have a widespread equation for building blocks, but does it give any of the hard questions answers? How did the universe start, phi does not answer that one.

Essentialy what I am getting at is we could discover the 'maths of god' and yet never get any closer to udnerstand who, what or where that god is or was. It's a little bit over-sensational to think these similarities mean anything more exciting than why we have a finger print.
