Knights Bomber Ops Channel
« on: June 20, 2011, 05:59:02 PM »
Any interest in a designated bomber ops vox channel?

This would be a place for buff pilots to meet up and work together with any escorts. People could pop in and see if any operations are on or being planned. Channel 129 seems vacant so I nominate that one.

I'll try and put up an operation tonight to get it rolling!

S!

I suggest utilizing text as much as you can, so players can stay tuned to their normal VOX but still catch 129 text, and decide to tune to 129 VOX if they see a good mission getting planned.

I really wish there were more large bomber missions flying around, it's a blast defending (and attacking  :devil) a large moving target at 23,000 ft.  :D

Okay help me out here.
You fly Knights I assume. And you just made a post telling everyone your bombers and their escorts are going to be on channel 129. What am I missing?

If I were a buff pilot in a huge organized mission I'd say, "BRING 'EM ON!!!"

Just make sure your opponent is wounded and drowning in his own blood first.

Ole.
... missions were to be met by the commitment of alerted swarms of fighters, composed of Me 109's and Fw 190's, that were strategically based to protect industrial installations. The inferior capabilities of these fighters against the Mosquitoes made this a hopeless and uneconomical effort. 1.JD KTB

Just finished our first op in B-29s.

Mission Start: 21:25

Mission End: 23:30

Mission Summary

Six B-29s departed A229 heading south. A singleton formed up with the group south over the water where the first interceptor hit us. and We had constant contact from the bay to the target and back over the mountains to home where we set back down at A222. All seven Superforts hit strategic targets, but there is more work to do and the group will have to go back to finish the job soon. One of my flight suffered a fuel leak, I had some holes in my wings on "Sky Chief" and Redtail lost power to one of his flaps, but we all landed safely thanks to the good people at Boeing and our escort.

Claims

Lemay - 1 Spitfire
W1ldcat! - 1 Spitfire
Redtail - 2 Fw190 of some new high altitude type
Alfamega - 2 Fw190s of same advanced type

Sky Chief Warming up her Wright 3350's.

The Business end of ALFAMEGA fully loaded P-47N.

Getting intercepted en route, it's called Superfortress for a reason! 6 o'clock attack ends badly.

W1ldcat! rendezvous with the formation just in time for some action.

This new experimental 190 will not be available for examination thanks to Redtail  :devil

Rain of Iron in the forecast today!

Weatherman is right for once.

Everyone makes it home ok and "Sky Chief" gets a mission bomb and a Jap flag painted on by the crew chief.

Salute! to the friends and foes who made the mission fun!

Any knights looking for some hi-alt strategic bombing fun, definitely look him and the 444th up. It's worth the 2 hour flight for sure
