 probably not. you mentioned my emergency fund.....i constantly add to it, when i can afford it. i figure the thing going on with my ankle is gonna cost me somewhere in the ballpark of a grand. no big deal. it's still cheaper than paying for insurance. when i take that money out of there, i don't consider it gone. i consider it borrowed, and i have to repay it, just as i'd have to repay a loan from you.

yup. paid for it for many many years. over those many many years, i used it exactly 3 times, totaling less than 10k. my share at the places i worked at was in the ballpark of $400, on top of what my employer paid.

 so now, rather than give that money away, i keep it for myself, and pay my own way.

Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see anything in that article that said he lost his job for "good" reasons.  All it says is, "amid the economic downturn" (which could mean, "He fell asleep at the wheel amid the economic downturn" for all we know). There is absolutely nothing in that particular article that suggests he was a hard worker, or anything of the sort.

Now he might be the greatest, most hard working guy in the world, but there's nothing in that article to suggest that...
