Working instraments, etc. for ride alongs
« on: June 21, 2011, 08:51:58 PM »
I'm sure this has been asked for before but I think it's worth bringing back up.

As a trainer, I'm constantly having students join my plane so they can see what they are supposed to be doing or seeing.  Unfortunately without working instraments or certain flight inputs that they can see, the educational value is limited.   If this can somehow be changed so that the student sees the same things I am, the training in many isntances would be much easier and less time consuming.  I don't know if this is a difficult thing to remedy or not, but I'm sure anybody that has tried to teach a ride along, would appreciate this change if it is indeed possible.

Also let the ridealong hear the engine change with throttle changes, so he gets an idea of how the other guy is working the throttle.

This is a great idea for an addition to the game.

Might I add one further option to this?

The ability to link head/eye movements to the pilot of the joined aircraft.  This would go a long way for trainers when coaching how to scan for enemy aircraft, setting up the deflection shot or even how to look out of the cockpit when lining up that tight combat landing.

This addition should probably not be automatic to he join command but an additional dot command that can be turned either on or off.

Last few times I observed in a fighter (just to watch how he did things) enemy aircraft actually disappeared behind the gunsight reflector glass. Also, no tracers or bullets because it was technically from another plane (you don't see those) and no gun firing sounds or flashes. You just watch as the plane in front of you loses a wing for no reason.

Definitely would like to see some improvement here, as long as it doesn't require too much recoding.

Stall sounds and blackouts (maybe toggle blackout on and off) would be nice too.
