Glad to here that there are others with the same logic.   :salute Wurzy

I puzzle over people who won't participate in something simply because there exists in the universe one or two BBS threads out of thousands that contain some letters that form words that when read have some element of discord in them. It is hard for me to believe that these posts produce such a profound unrest in one's being.   After all, it is not like the competition is carried out in an environment where the participants are sequestered and forced to interact with each other face to face where true unpleasantness would have a real effect. After all, in this case, it's only words that you are not forced to read.

This observation leads me to only two reasonable conclusions about a person that would give such a reason for lack of participation. One, they need an excuse for other reasons that they are not man enough to admit. Or two, they have such a weak constitution that simple words that they are not forced to read cause them to be so profoundly addled and upset that, for the sake of their own wellbeing they avoid the competition altogether.

As a side note, I do find it fascinating that, while these refuse to participate, we do find them insinuating themselves into the discussion. Hmmm. What does that tell us? Hmmm. It tells us that most likely that it is the first reason with some combination of the second. Or it is the leprechaun that is making them read AND respond. That is one mean leprechaun.

It is also noteworthy that they did not participate in the first few tourneys that had no discord. Yep, definitely the first reason at least.

So BE, I saw your post in the other thread. Ppl will continue to participate because not everyone in this game is a ninny.

There is no logic since there was no drama in the first 5, yet the no shows from many bbs dogfighting clubbers was eye opening to say the least.

Is not showing up related to whining?  Forfeits stink and are very dissapointing. There were a lot of them in this bracket. AND they screwed up my picks!

No. Actually I know one player who joined a tournament just to "join" and then "forgot" about his match just so he didn't have to put his toon skills on display.

There is a dogfighing club?   I never knew there was.    There were some dramatic moments, but they were unknown to the community.    But nothing like the gropefest of the last two.   They were handled privately by the review committee.

Maybe so, but you are eluding the point that I made.

I am eluding nothing grizz.   But I am laughing at the hypocrisy displayed by those in their "social club".    I have been for about two years now.

I anticipated this comment; I have participated in the past and will again.  This time I was unable to sign up because I was banned from the BBS for being a patriot.  I took the opportunity to take a BBS break, and therefore, was unaware of the tourney.  I plan on being in the next one.  How do you account for your lack of participation that doesn't cast you as either having a weak constitution or being scared of having your toon skills (or lack thereof - as is my case) on display?

Yer head is gonna explode SunBat :)

I was with ya for a bit, but when the conversation spins towards weak and scared, in a cartoon game, I drifted right away again.

If you've got the time and the inclination, more power to ya.  Nothing wrong with good competition.  Where this thing got lost for a bit, was in the cartoon ego's getting too wrapped up in something so trivial.  The tourney is voluntary after all.  You can kick my cartoon tail all over the arena from now until doomsday and it won't change the fact that I'm still sitting at my computer enjoying myself pretending to be a cartoon fighter pilot.  No fear, no risk, no weak constitution.  I'll still be OK with me in the morning :)
