Yakovlev Yak-3
« on: June 24, 2011, 09:40:37 PM »
Know this has been brought up before and I hardly fly em but have began to start and get a better feel for them. Have seen threads on Yak-3 in here but never really did the research. Just want you guys to check out this Wiki page and just read the Operational History Section. I found it to be quite shocking!

Not really.  The post war Yak-3 with the VK-107 engine, yes, but the wartime Yak-3 had the less powerful VK-105 engine.

In AH the Yak-9U has a VK-107 and the Yak-9T has a VK-105.

It was competitive with the 109 F, about the same turn rate, speed, arnament and era. BIG +1 along with the remodelled Jak9 series.

Yak-3 is much later than the Bf109F.  Don't let the number fool you, they aren't sequential.  The Yak-3 is a development of the Yak-1.  The Yak-9 is a development of the Yak-7.

The Yak-3 would also handily outfly the Bf109F-4.

Nice response lol...and sorry for the Link, it should have taken you to just the Yak3 Wiki Info and didnt know it went to all those pics etc. I just found it interesting that it said somethin like 16 of these Yak3's fought 24 LW planes and shot down like 16 or some watermelon for a loss of 1 or none....and LW operations in that AO dropped to nothing. Thats why I said it was quite shocking lol.
