Pistol Upgrade
« on: June 28, 2011, 03:20:03 PM »
I wish for the Colt .45 to have sights that the player can aim down.  It would take years of training and experience that real pilots in WWII didn't have to shoot from the hip with that kind of accuracy.  Furthermore, the pistol's slide needs to recoil with each round fired, and reload after the magazine and chamber are empty.  Finally, there must be recoil induced with each shot fired to provide total immersion in the shooting experience.

For references on the WWII M1911 .45:

You do realize that most aircrew when they bailed out, threw the 45 away as fast as they could because they heard that the baduns shot aircrew that had their pistols on them.  Some chose not to carry a pistol at all.

Maybe you should be asking for a pistol downgrade instead?

My squad mate SEsundvl bailed one time onto an enemy field that was de-acked. Once there he walked over to the runway and what should appear but an enemy plane right in front of him! So this brave soldier raised his pistol, knowing he had to do something for his country before rounds tore through every inch of his living flesh and he fired. SHawk went down that day, giving proof that our pistols are fine.

someone needs to lay off the twinkies and sleep at night...

bad idea, among many by the op...many more items to improve ah than something like how a silly pistol is displayed on a glorified stick pilot.

For as often as it is used, I think what we have is sufficient.

What's with all the insults and belittling? Guys telling Penguin to grow up when they ought to examine their own behavior... there's nothing wrong with this wish. The most important thing to me is reloading and reduced accuracy during recoil. But I'd be happy with just having to reload. For as often the pistol is used, I think reloading is all the realism we need for now, the 30 round magazine or whatever we have is just silly.

+1 for realistic magazine sizes  :aok

Unless something has changed, there's a little dot in the middle of your screen where your bullets will go.  No need to aim down the gun, no need to add the necessity of aiming down the gun.

That's true for about less than 400 yards. I've bailed, hit a tank in the low section of the treads and ran to a map room. I've even hit a spixteen with one. I'm not with the iron sight, but +1 for realistic magazine sizes.
