The A-Team and the RPG scene stick out in my mind as some of the worst EVER.
You Sir, must not have seen Armageddon and the asteroid hopping rover.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.

There's a reason for the bottomless magazines, you know.  They are not often used to convey a sense of a character being 'awesome' (exceptions include the Rambo series).  They are used because in order to actually simulate a character using a weapons one would waste a great deal of very valuable screen time just showing them hiding in cover and reloading.  Furthermore, sex sells, and producers don't want to have the good looks of actors hidden by the thousands of rounds that they'd need to carry.  All that equipment would also raise the question of where they got it all (if this isn't a soldier movie).  Finally, actors often use a wide variety of weapons, and learning the particular manual of arms for each is a great deal of work and costs time.  Also, it can change a character dramatically, as it raises the question of their background with firearms.

There is a great deal more to these tough decisions than one might think.

Thanks, Penguin. My viewing of all the classic Schwarzenegger and Stallone movies was instantly improved once I thought about how much of a pain it must be for the actor to shove a metal box into the bottom of a weapon. Look, just because they have reasons it doesn't make the viewing experience any better. Abrams had reasons for the ridiculous lens flares in the latest Star Trek, that doesn't mean that a lot of the audience didn't think they looked like crap.

I have to agree. To me, a well-done well-thought out fight scene with time to reload will always be necessary for me to enjoy the movie. Honestly, watching someone have to duck behind cover to reload can be even more dramatic.

However, this would become a problem, especially with revolvers, as the amount of ammuntion expended between reloads is exceptionally small.  Seeing your character constantly reload would quickly become boring, as nothing would ever come of it.

So you're supposed to suspend your disbelief and assume that the character reloaded between scenes.

Watch 3:10 to Yuma. It's a good film with very well done gun fights. And guess what? It's a western. They're reloading more than they're shooting, and spend a lot of time in cover, and it's still fun to watch. My disbelief was suspended throughout the film, never once (as far as I can recall) did I go "Hey wait a minute, you can't do that!"

LOL!! I love this quote someone posted on this video...its a parody of the Allstate Mayhem commercials:

Mayhem: I'm your getaway driver you picked up at the last minute. I'm toejamting bricks and whaling on the gas like it's the Indy 500, when suddenly, the front tires blow and I catch a few 9mm and 12ga slugs whizzing through the windshield causing me to drop dead at the wheel while barrelling into the car ahead of us. Your 15min insurance may not cover the cost of the damage to public property. So get Allstate. You can save money and be better protected from mayhem, like me!
It is 2 Cents or .02 Dollars...NOT .02 Cents!
