That's how it works in FA, except that it can only open on the ground, when the engines are shut down. The canopy opens and closes, on those aircraft that have the canopy on them.

Don't the Blood Pigs already come with those to keep the windscreen clear of the blood spraying from your targets?   

Yes they do.It's called the "Waystin Wiper".

Another point, if the canopy is significantly involved in a collision the pilot is pretty much toast.
