different task groups
« on: July 02, 2011, 02:38:10 PM »
Battleship task groups - used to go against other task groups and bombard areas

Invasion task groups - cruisers and lcts, lctrs, ltcs, to quickly bombard, invade and take

Escort carrier task groups - to have a lighter yet supportive air deterrent for other task groups

Because WWII had large and diverse navies. So why be limited to only carriers.

battleship task groups to find other groups will be like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

invasion task groups:  cool without air support see how long you can last.  this was the main lesson learned in ww2, whoever controls the skies will win.

escort carrier task groups:  I am pretty sure silat will object to competition.

that's the idea, each Task group SUPPORT eachother, you have a mixture of task groups cooperating then it gets not only realistic but tactical. Battleship task groups protect other task groups, invasion groups take the beaches. escort carrier groups, (being if having all this AND a normal carrier is a bit much) provide air support for all. I find the fact that we launch lvts out of carrier groups very silly being there is nothing to actually launch them from. The way i see it you could press the hanger spawn and there you are driving out the hull of a ship. Think about it.

and this is sorta untrue. People spot a CV, you send it there. or you send it out on patrol in the course you predict they had made. Running into other ships is all but too common in aces high. have a escort group near and not only do you outgun them but you have air support as well.

Ask the map makers. HTC limits the number of task groups due to the updating they get in game due to them moving. Thats why you don't see maps dominated by water for more epic naval battles.
