Seems to me it was the Pinto was the one with the running joke about it exploding if you tapped it in the back, even just a little bit.  Can't find the film now, but it was classic of another car just nicking the rear bumper and the old Pinto blew sky high.

Had a friend that had an AMC Gremlin that could do 8s in the 1/4 mile. Thing was sick, Rear was shortened so much that the Micky Thompsons made the car look like a fat chicks backside when u looked at the car from the rear

My very first brand new car was a 72 Ford Pinto.  People used to have bumper stickers on them that said "Please don't tailgate this is not one of Ford's better Ideas"  There was a video put out that showed one getting tailgated.  It looked like someone opened a firehose up in the back seat. (turns out that video was faked)

I can remember a friend of mine took a pinto body and mounted it on a bronco frame...LOL he called it a Pronco.. Ugly as hell but it went everywhere.
