c205s wings
« on: July 03, 2011, 12:31:43 PM »
does the c205 have paper like wings because yesterday was bombing strats in lancs when i got attack by a p47 and a c205. i shot down the 47 but he took out drones and my 50 cal. at aprox 15k the c205 att me and misses this passes next thing i know hes going up and over about 800 of me then back down and all of a sudden his rite wing flys off mind u olny had 303s left and dont believ i hit him. was this due to g forces on the wing or from pufffy from strats

I am having trouble parsing your story.

I believe he's getting at, Is it possible for a C205 to rip its own wings off?   I never had it occure but it's not a common aircraft for me to fly.

I like the C 205 but it does seem a littles fragile, one ping can sometimes do it a lot of damage. You may have weakend the wing root earlier.
No thank you Turkish, I'm sweet enough.

Not likely for that to happen to the C205, if you say ack was firing nearby I would attribute it to that. Then again this is only a game. Radiators and pilot wounds abound, but I never lost a part from violent maneuvers.

Hes saying he was attacked by a p47 and c205 in lancs, he shot the p47 down but lost 2 drones doing it. he was down to .303s only.  then the c.205 came diving in. it missed him, then pulled back up to attack again.
but as it was diving, its wing snapped.

hes asking if .c205s are really as fragile as it looked like to him.

It also sounded like his wing ripped off as he was in the upper arc pulling back down...? Also unlikely place for the highest G's. It would usually happen in the bottom/climb-out of a dive.  :airplane:

well i did some testing in the TA

and at 550 TAS it compresses and at 600 you start to stress the airframe but i had to dive from 21,000 feet to 0 feet to get that data

so very unlikely that he just broke the wings

205 is sturdy in the wings from my experience.  It isn't like an a-20 where you can rip the wings off at will.

^-- what he said.

I've used and abused it and never once thought for a heartbeat my wings were going to fall off because of anything I did. It's definitely result of enemy fire if the wings came off.

Every A-20 you up is a bot.  It sits idle until you make a moderate stick input.  It then yells "YAHTZEE!!!" and steals your wings.... :noid
