I have one for 5 years?  No problems what so ever.  Try a different USB port and make sure nothing else is plugged in in the same USB set up.  Meaning, if you have USB ports in the front of the computer, they  probably all share the same port/power.  Don;t plug anything else there but the stick and give it a try.

Not to pee on your parade but I'm guessing (with the knowledge from personal experience and numerous posts in the Hardware/Software forum) your X52 will fail to calibrate properly in 6 to 12 months. If you have a money back guarantee with your purchase, send it back and purchase a CH set-up. It will last you damned near forever with little or no problems.
Been using an X52 since Nov 06 and with the exception of a broken wire that I fixed, it's worked fine..

Use what works for you. I used a saitek 290 for quite some time. Would go through one a year. I bought a CH setup about 5 years back and have had it ever since.

d/l this utility  http://www.glarysoft.com/   then uninstall the drivers again.  run the registry cleaner option, reboot it follow the instructions from skuzzy here

http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,71591.0.html  scroll down to the x52 calibration.  then run the glarysoft registry cleaner again, then reboot and try installing it.  I'll be on around 4, or give me a call after that.  I had the same problem first time I got it and that was on windows xp, it went away by itself and never had it after that.

Sounds like you may need to try a new cable....could have a fault on that one....does the hat switch or any of the buttons work?......
It really does sound like an issue between the throttle and stick..remember...just because it is new doesn't mean it isn't broke...who knows how it got treated from manufacture to your door.

If you are sharing USBs with the stick you will have problems.  Unplug everything else and just try the stick.  I had a USB mouse on the same USB bank and the stick went nuts.

X-52's got no USB cable coming from the stick, it's a proprietary cable that goes from the stick to the throttle, then the throttle gets connected to the PC via USB.

It sounds to me like something's up hardware-wise between the stick and the throttle.  The issue could be anywhere from the throttle to the cable to the stick.  If it were me, I'd explore warranty at this point.

1 free vulch says it is the port.  Once he unplugs everything else the stick will come alive.
