how the states got their shapes

Out of all the nonsense the history channel shows these days, this is, to me, a very interesting show that actually talks about domestic history.

Basically it tours the country talking about state history, how they came to be, demographics etc.

Maybe not all hope is lost for the history channel?

its accualy a interesting show.so is "The States"

Only having watched the show once before (episode about Illinois, Chicago and Indiana I believe), I think it's pretty cool learning how the states got to be the way they are.

Kentucky is formed by three main rivers. The Mississippi to the West, the Ohio along the entire North of the state, and the Big Sandy to the North East. The south border was formed when the map-makers tried drawing a straight line, but messed up (supposedly the table was bumped) and they took away some land from the Tennesseeans and gave it to us up yonder.  :D That's the version I was always told by numerous people as a real young boy. Whether or not it is true, I have no clue.

I recorded it, not sure of how it was going to turn out.  I'm glad I did - just one of the kids was at home with me (we watched it together).  When the other kids get home I'm sure they'll be interested in it as well.  Was indeed very interesting.   :aok
