Timing is bad but I can't wait around forever for AKAK to say something silly with gems like this sitting on the shelf. He has been watching his step, in fact I don't think he has mentioned his gaming company since sunbat quoted like 50 posts of his a while back. This thread needed some life. Oh and btw, I think that "a faulty sound card surviving 4 computers since the 90's" resolves your initial complaint quite nicely. 
I noticed he's been biting his tongue for a couple months now, but SB counted 50 posts???? ROFL
He must have just got tired of counting.
It does resolve it, but it's too subtle, you have to consider the audience your dealing with.
