How to Handle an AFK Enemy SFOX
« on: July 09, 2011, 10:27:20 PM »
I had just had a long drawn out fight with some b24s that left my mustang with 4 guns and many holes. I thought my sortie was all but over. Then I noticed a Hog at 20k+ and decided to give chase. It took a few minutes to get up to altitude and then this is what happened next.

Sfox AFK

S! to SFOX for a great fight. One that would never have happened if we handle an AFK situation in the obvious way. Also it's extremely funny when they get back and notice you (or not in this case for a minute :p ).

Just a bit of light hearted fun to make a change on the forum of late.

Like, ya know, when that thing that makes you move, it has pistons and things, When your thingamajigy is providing power, you do not hear other peoples thingamajig when they are providing power.

I always though the best way to deal with an AFK enemy pilot was to shoot most of their control surfaces away, and then leave the area.  This way they come back to the keyboard thinking everything is ok, until they try to maneuver the plane.  Then they will be like  :headscratch:  :furious

I always fly wingman with an afk pilot, funniest thing in game when they sit back down and notice you.

They never stop to think you didn't already blast them for a reason most yank so hard on their controls I wonder if they break...... :rofl

Thats my favorite too Sonic :lol

I asked SFOX if he minded me posting this video and he said 'go for it, should make a nice thread for a change'. Kind of fun especially since he gave me such a hard time when he came back. What he didnt know was I tried to bailed out to award him the kill just before he got picked at the end. My engine was dead and I had 1 working gun left!

He did really well to move that hog out of my way like he did. Very fun.

Well, I'd love to be able to tell when a guy is AFK.  I'm sneaky, how am I to know if I have snuck up on him, he has poor SA, or he is AFK ?

So, I just shoot em.  Besides, whenever I take their wing off their aircraft "turns" so I figure they were at the controls.  :bolt:

I think somebody used to do that a lot in the middle of fights.... Betty, perhaps?

Would be on afk auto climb right through a hotly contested sector. I'd follow and pick the typh off a few times inside an hour lol.

I was inspired by this thread last night, as I was headed toward a large red bardar at ridiculous alt in my Ta-152 I happened across a P40E at about 20k alt with a droptank on autoclimb.  I dove in and was barrel rolling to get into wingman position when wings started waggling, the droptank flew off, and he put it into a flat spin hauling on his controls.  I cut throttle and rolled in on him, giving him a half second burst and pulling off before I lost too much alt, figuring surely I'd done enough to put him down.  Apparently I didn't take off anything vital, as I leveled out I saw him trailing smoke and RTBing.

Much more entertaining than just taking A Free Kill.

Wiley.

I normally do not even read or respond to forums but with a thread like this how can I help myself :). Great film and great fight! Man I can see all the flaws in my flying on that one. Yes, yes it’s true I am AFK allot. I get to talking with my wife or doing the many things that pull you away from the keyboard and this is not the only fight where I came back to fight off someone on my 6.  I am surprised I didn't do my normal 6 check. Mechanic I am sorry to say I mostly do not film my flights so I don’t believe I would have this one. Bar the Typhoon was not me :). Thanks for the post I will be checking my 6 more often<S> to you all. :bolt:

SFOX salute!  One of my favorite defeats of the year. You flew excellently, I don't know where those flaws you talk about are. I hope the message that this gives to some people is it is all about the FIGHT not the kill.
