Last I checked this is a "game", and "games" have a scoring system of one sort or another.  Now I know some of you will have a hard time being convinced it's a game, but, uh, it os.  :bolt:

Personally I use score to gauge if I'm doing better or worse in the game.  While I'm no score-potato (I know I'll never be #1 and quite frankly don't care about ever being #1) it does give me warm fuzzies to see my rank increase.  My highest ever was 290 but I usually hover around 700-800 or so.

I guess if I took the time to up B29's and drop one bomb in the center of every town on the map and if I took the time to run random M3's to bases that are under attack to get a few more base takes then my rank may go up quite a bit but that's not how I play.  I also tend to forget to switch planes to "attack" mode when on town-leveling missions so that probably hurts too.

My dear brother, who has 2 daughters that were in that Youth Soccer League, (that does not keep score), explained to me in a condescending tone that, "Without scores, everyone can be a winner".

I countered that "Without scores everyone is a loser".

I really hate that crap.
