Let's have a discussion about them.
If I had a gun with 3 bullets and I was locked in a room with Bin Laden, Hitler, Saddam and Zipp...  I would shoot Zipp 3 times.

You mean announcing your misshun on ch 200?

I'm all for it. A well orgainized misson should be able to counter defensives.... but a well orgainized defense will also make the mission "work" for it's success.

Now whether an *organized* defense will actually materialize is another matter entirely.

I'm all for it, as long as the mission player uses his resources wisely. If you get 20 guys in a mission hit one base, if you get 40 guys, hit two. No need to generate a horde.

Announcing a fight on 200 is great, but doing so and bringing overwhelming numbers is disingenuously promoting a fight.

Usually the darbar makes a mission public.  Last night a large darbar was present in as sector for a long time.  Myself and another squaddie went to investigate and found a gaggle of SBD's with escorts.  My squaddie waxed the goon and I drug all the fighters to the deck so the rest of the squad could finish them off.  Sadly I paid for it with my cartoon life, but the rest of the squad cleaned up.

I was in that mission flyin' one of the SBDs. We got toasted by the 15 whirblels sittin' on the
vBase when we got there. We didn't lose a single SBD enroute to the target and we had about 10 fighters
on us. Our escorts totalled 5. It's an interesting perspective you have there of "dragging" the fighters to the
deck so you squaddies could finish 'em off. Me, I'd just call it divin' in to get an easy SBD kill and then
findin' yourself runnin' like a monkey for your life. :)

Didn't the muppets get some giant furballs going recently by contacting squad CO in the other country and agreeing to show up away from their airfeilds with numbers? Always wondered why squads were not calling out other country squads as an SOP activity in this game to generate fun and mayhem a plenty.

Guess the mission editor isn't a good platform for that then. Wonder if it could be modifyed so two CO or players can issue and accept a challenge with open slots to be filled towards an agreed launch time for both sides. Unequal sides...who cares. Announce the Challenge on ch200 to get intrested alt pickers, HOers and runners from both countries to show up after the launch.

A Challange Editor maybe next to the Mission Editor? Err, or a Brawl Editor??

+1

A lot could be done with the mission editor to improve it.

Announce on 200 to get a fight, I'll go round up some of Komandos Nowotny and soon you will have 3000lbs of concentrated love dropping on each and every one of your hangers. Only done it once, not only did we kill the fight dead as shoe leather, we took the base.

Main reason spying and reporting of missions is wrong is that there is NO way to punish the person. IRL spys were shot, imprisioned, or turned into double agents. IMO, mission reporting should get you a pop up box saing "you have been text and voice muted for mission reporting. Don't do it again."

Start out with 5 days, go up to a week, then 2, then a month if they keep doing it.
You started this thread and it was obviously about your want and desire in spite of your use of 'we' and Google.

So it's not Hoarding? Like those nutjobs with 80 cats in their home?

What if you country has all it's own fields +15% of both of the other countries.  Is that hoarding bases?

Well, I didn't "intend" to drag all the fighters to the deck, it just kind of happened that way. Initially I was going for the goon, got some pings and went for the extension.  I extended through the SDB's in hopes of a passing shot on one when they all too gladly parted like the red sea as I blew through.  As is the norm in the game, at least 3 of the fighters took off after me so I dove into the canyon hoping that just one (the hog) would follow.  It turns out all 3 kept on me.  I did my best, but 3v1, in a canyon doesn't really make for a good outcome usually.  This of course created a situation where much of your defensive was low in the canyon when the rest of the squad entered the fray.

My squaddies focused on the fighters as they would have proved the most menacing before turning onto the SDB which apparently had continued to target unmolested while they tangled with the cover.

While my desire was to blow through and extend, it didn't work out that way.  In retrospect, the defenders should have sent one after me, but the gang mentality (which I somewhat counted on in the back of my mind) assured the ultimate failure of the mission as we kept the vbase and ended up taking the likely launch base of your mission before I logged for some sleep.

It was fun...
