Sad thing about this setup(like most otherS) is that most people are too concerned with furballing than actually going for the objectives.  :(

Btw chilli, nice try on that P39 HO attempt. better luck next time  :aok  :salute

Actually the sad thing is people are too concerned about other people's game play when they should worry about thier own.

Please inform me what the reason would be to fly in the AvA if all everybody is going to do is furball between 2 baseS? If i wished for that i could just join the Dueling arena.

No, the sad thing is everyone just wants to shoot eachother down instead of attempting to complete the AvA objectives. Really drains the life out of any reason to go in there, when i can find a furball in bigger places.

Look, all we can do is list some objectives for those who would like to try them.

Should you get a group together to try to take some objectives, you would likely get a good battle going.

The mission creator works in AvA too.

When i posted my question  earlier about troops, it was because i was on earlier. I was thinking about taking That vbase since i was the only one in there but then i saw your changing setup comments if there were too many milk runners.
If i was to get a group together to take a base, it would just be the definition of those undefended milk-runners you described. Then you will change the settings, and the arena will become even more screwed up for the objective-style people and be in more favor for the furballers.

Also, you guys are the AvA staff, yet from the past 2 nights of being in the AvA, you guys have been part of the reasons that the fur balling begins.
Dont take what im saying as an personal insult towards you guys, cus its not. i like the work you guys put into the arenas.
Just,Lead By Example you know? it doesn't really encourage objective-style playing when you have the actual AvA staff doing nothing but furballing as well.
If you guys HAVE attempted the objectives, then i apologize for whats said, im only speaking about what i have noticed myself.

If people want to furball, they will furball. Can't tell someone how they can or cannot play, because it is their $14.95.

Honestly, I love all aspects of the AvA. The little furball we had going last night was a ton of fun, and hopefully it will happen again. Sure, I love the immersion of objective gameplay, but there are special events for that, and I will go into the AvA to furball. Battle of Britain for instance, more than half the fun in those setups are channel furballs.

If you have 5 guys on with even 3 on the other side, I don't consider that milkrunning.

The milk runners we are referring to are those who run the bases against no chance of opposition, in the early morning hours and such.

About the most we would do is make it require more than one load of troops and perhaps adjust down times so a guy cant go in the arena by himself, deack, bail and then bring troops in for a capture.

It's just common sense that we don't want all the objectives unfairly taken during the wee hours, then the game play is screwed for everyone else during prime time hours.

Though I'm not sure what satisfaction you would get out of taking bases while alone in the arena, go ahead and take one, then switch sides and take it back.

Rinse and repeat til you get some opposition and then you have started a real battle   :aok

Just so Tyrannis gets it right.  I am not a staff member.  I do recall pulling up to go HO in the P39D.  I also recall having a great time with the furball action going with Tyrannis in the middle of it.  I got my share of kills in the thing, and as I recall none of those were Head On.

I don't recall what planes I was going against but, I consider it a challenge fighting disadvantaged at times.  As I am not by any stretch of imagination an uber cartoon pilot.  If I am set up in a fail situation, I will go offensive if I have any chance.  I hope to be back in for that setup this week.

I even went and downloaded a couple of P39 skins for it.

Nobody is stopping you from going after objectives. Or is it something you just want to do when the arena is empty? Friday night you were furballing like everyone else. Yes if you and a few guys go into the arena when it's empty and run the map while nobody is there to defend against it that's considered milk running in just about anybodies book. However I wrote the victory conditions for this setup so if people come in and milkrun they can only go so far with it before it has an adverse effect for thier side. As far as furballing staff members... We're free to fly just like anybody else if we want to furball that's our business. Unless of course you're willing to pay our monthly fees. The fact is we try very hard to come up with setups that appeal to the WWII history buff, the furballer, the mud movers, the base takers and the GV guys. We put as much consideration as possible into making it fun for all these guys in hopes of populating the arena.

I guess there were too many good responses to this great setup.  Not enough drama for Tyrannis

Shifty, from the time that I was there I saw nothing preventing anyone from doing exactly as you said.  The objectives work fine, and no one was forced to do anything.  In fact, a player was discussing how he chose to turn his enemy icons off, even though he knew his enemy would be able to see his icon.  Shane commented on how he was able to use his preference while others were able to  use their preference to having icons on.

It's hard to make everybody happy. Heck you can't do it in the MA. I guess my point is we're trying to give everybody a little bit of every tool to have fun with. It's up to individuals to seek the style they like. We are certainly not trying to stop anybodies fun. I'm not trying to pick on Tyrannis, just trying to make the point that he should seek his fun and leave others to seek theirs. I'm freakin bummed I can't fly this weekend my graphics card took a dump Friday. I can find any tractor part I want in this town but I have to order a graphics card.

Nor should you try to make everybody happy.  You staff guys do a great job of making these weekly setups different and interesting.....ya I know someone will disagree.  Such is the way of aviation and those who chose to participate.  If there isn't someone complaining, something is seriously wrong.  If you are achieving a soft majority, good enough.   :aok

Tractor parts, eh?  Well, now I know who to call next time the old girl breaks down.

Ya know I had a great philosophical post written out but deleted it.

From now on I'm just going to try to kill the red guy by any means possible.

Short icons, no icons, objectives, no objectives, furballs, gv's (okay that's a stretch), what the $#@# ever, if I can get you in my sights I'm going to fire.

Granted I haven't been flying much lately but in all seriousness the female dogging has gone from the brink of whining into the abyss.

The AVA and every online game that puts you in competition with other players is always going to be a challenge to learn, adapt, and overcome.

If you can live with that then rock on.  If you can't there are a ton of crochet websites and USA has some pretty dang good shows.

Shut up and fight for the love of whatever.

Sheesh...

Wait a minute man you dropped an earring.  I love it when you get mad and swing dat purse  :D  Your so dem sexy when your defending my beloved arena......  :aok

Really, only one guy asking why??  The rest seam to love what these guys have been cooking up.  Maybe Tyrannis was actually just trying to stir some stink on me for trying to get a HO shot as he was diving at me.  I am not sure if he thought I was a staff member or not, but I primarily answered to make that point clear that I am not a staff member.  Actually, I believe that Tyrannis was having a good time in the arena and his post didn't accurately reflect that.

When I am more rested, I may attempt to rally some help and dive into the objective battle.  It does seem fitting.
