WoW Hayes... Seems like reunion time.. I to am back playing after being gone for about 4-5 yrs... Started in 02 as well. I remember Blue Thunder guys.  Took a look of lead from them!!!!

I was part of the 106thVAG.  We did a lot of Bomber missions... Still looking for some of that old crew.  Chen, Booyall, krouger, man to many years gone by.  Well I'm out there... getting my tail shot up... and having a blast.  Talked a friend into joining up with me.  Currently we are using my Ventrillo server for comms just so we can chat and learn...  and lurk on the in game comms...

Anyone from those days remember me and see me out there.. give a shout.

Funny, many people would mistake my callsign and call me Dr. Baker, when it is just mdbaker...  hahaha...

See-ya in the wild blue!!!

:O

I can't believe I remembered my login info!

<S> Not sure who is all still around...

I registered for and started playing AH back in 2002. I was.. 15 at the time. Wow! Yes.. that made me a squeaker. I played AH religiously. Until, one day my video card was unable to play the game for whatever reason. I have to give MAD props to Skuzzy back then.. he spent countless emails trying to help a poor kid try to get back into the game. Unfortunately, it never happened. And being a poor kid, couldn't afford to get a new rig.

Flash forward to 2011, I am now 24 and work as a system administrator supporting my companies servers/network. I still occasionally glance at the AH forums, so I guess the desire to play never really left me. But college, girls, work, girls, friends, girls, motorcycles, and girls always seemed to get in the way. My last relationship ended in April and I moved into my own place and just enjoying life. Lately, I have found myself with a ton of free time seeing I moved across the country from my family/friends.. no girls now (lame!), and no motorcycle now!

I have toyed with the idea of suiting up for some AH again, however.. I am a bit intimidated. The community seems to have taken a turn viciously. It seems every other thread is a cry of "OMG U HO'er!", people not "having honor and taking noob shots" etc. Back when I played... we flew in squads. And in our squads, we flew with wingmen. And it was all about flying in the MA with your squaddies with wingman tactics. Now.. it seems everyone wants the 1v1 in the MA? I thought that was what the DA was for? Boy am I confused. And back then- I wouldn't HO simply because it was a 50/50 chance of getting yourself downed and leaving your buddy stranded. Now, people seem to be throwing it out left and right. And based on some threads, people want to cry "HO noob/dweeb" anytime they are shot down when slightly facing someone whether it is after the 1st or 8th merge.

So question 1) .. based on today's standards in this new decade.. would I be considered a HO dweeb because I would take deflected shots? It seems now.. unless you are dead on someone's 6.. you are going to be raged against and called a HO noob/dweeb etc in 200. Nice. Oh, and of course.. I would have NO HONOR in real life because I would take a deflecting shot at someone and not being "honorable" by waiting until one of us was on the other's 6?

Question 2) Do people still fly in squads? That is one thing I miss severely about AH. The camaraderie experienced on Squad Nights. The squad I was in, Blue Thunder, flew together all the time. We had wingmen we were always paired up with. BTDiver, BTPage(aka Hanzo), BTEmilio, BTFrog, etc. We would emulate historical type of missions such as bomber escorts, base capping (which seems to be frowned on now), etc. Is this still going on at all.. or is it pretty much a "give me 1v1 fight, or I am going to cry on 200/forums"? Serious question. I enjoyed playing because of the community. But now if I am expected to up and 1v1 everything and not participate in group interactions.. Pass. No, I am not looking for random furballs, ganging, vulching, etc. Just seeing if people still practice squad combat.

Anyhow, hopefully I'll see a few people around I recognize. <S>

Believe it or not, those were my initial questions just by reading the forums :)

Thankfully, as pointed out, a vocal minority cries here. Everyone ingame has been really great actually.  :aok
