a truly tragic event, my thoughts are with the people of Norway.

as I understand it the maximum tarif in Norway is 21yrs, meaning he'll be due for release at 53yrs old. he should die in prison for murdering scores of people, mostly children in cold blood ...

Yes and no. It is possible in theory to get life because you can be sentanced to something called safekeeping. It means that after 10 years they can say that you are not safe for society and you get an extra year or 10 in a prison or similar place. This they can do until he dies or is too old to do any harm. Afew are serving their time in this manner not knowing when of if they will ever get out.

This guy likes to think of himself as a modern knight templar according to the news reports about his web site. Rather than warehouse his useless carcass I have a better idea. Dress him like a knight crusader from the 14th century, give him a single shot .22 rifle and 2 rounds of .22 shorts then drop him in the middle of the hottest location in afghanistan to carry out his holy war.

I think that people who do things such as this deserve to die immediately in a most painful way, having them sit in the luxury of prison doesn't seem as much a consequence to actions as it should be. People who kill in cold blood don't deserve to live.

He will be looking over his shoulders and worry about every day for the rest of his life and if it sinks in for him what he has actually done the punishment for him will be even worse. Death is the easy way out...IMO. Most of the inmates he will see in jail unless he is kept in solitary will be the people he hates the most. The remaining days or years of his life will be no joy ride in a luxury cell.

I don't know if Norway has death pently or not, but if not, then it is time to reconsider and strap him in first, literally.

Holy ****, I just heard about this last evening. It is not even terrorism, just a man going bonkers in the worst possible way. I can't possibly think of a fitting punishment.

Maybe that is the answer.

Number of killed have now been reduced to a total of 76. That is 68 at the island and 8 in the government buildigs. More are still missing and they have not finished searching the government buildings or the sea around the island where the massacre took place. Small but good news.

I would never want to see someone put to death over a "all evidence points to it" type of case, but when you have the guy for sure, and everyone knows it was him, Id have to say Id buy tickets to the execution. He needs to be made an example of. A slow painful humiliating death.

If you think he'd ever mull it over in the decades to come of expensive imprisonment and think one day "What a monster I was, Im so sorry, this is so painful to me I wish I was dead!" you are crazy.

You are entitled to your opinion. The kids who were the victims of the shooting do not share your opinion and neither do the norwegian people in general.

Hello. I live in Oslo and I can confirm that in these moments are filled with sorrow. Many have cried tears of blood, but time heal all wounds. Wounds that will be filled with love. Thanks to all who send us warm thoughts, that we appreciate. We will be stronger together.
