Dont waste your time....really
« on: February 18, 2000, 07:54:00 AM »
I'm here to inform you that this and all other simulations whether Sea, Air, or Ground Assault, are just debri in CRS's wake...

"World War 2 Online" will be the revoloution in simulation gaming....2:1 scale theatres...Infantry, Tanks, Planes, and Ships all modelled and fully controllable...

I'm sorry but this is the way it will be...

<YAWN> Only if you enjoy the never ending early war. Besides-vaporware isn`t as much fun to play as Aces High! When CRS releases it your post may have some basis-until then keep on dreaming little man.

I do not see the need for posting this here, i think every living flight sim fan out there on the web knows what wwiiol is and is counting the days for it to hit beta. . .

Regards.

<Ripsnort sniffs the bait.."Yep, worms again" takes knife out, cuts the hook off, attaches a 500 lber with delayed fuse to the end of the line, and jerks on line twice>

Seriously, I've said before, the folks that get a GOOD FLIGHT MODEL in order first, then adds vehicles etc. into the strat, will be very rich.

I respectfully reserve my right to form an opinion if and when that ever goes into beta.

For now, I think that comparing the two is apples/oranges.  There is nothing (to my knowledge) that can compare to the scope of what WWIIOnline will attempt.

AH still has my $30/month.

By the time WWII online is actually released as a beta(if it is ever released) imagine what Hitech and his crew will have done with this Aces High that we are growing to love so much.

I spend quite a bit of time at the WWIIOnline site also.

A while back there were some trollers there, I guess when we got that maturaity there, they are now working their way thins way.

I still have a WB Account.

I have an AH Account.

I will probably have an WWIIOnline Account.

The WB is on the shakiest ground at the moment.  I find AH very playable, even though there is no P-40. I get good connect here also.

To me it is really between the two flight sims, and AH has an advantage.

I would like to see WB 3.0, but I will not continue to pay indefinetly.

If someone can give me winning lottery numbers, it will be a moot point (almost said mute point.)

Sounds interesting,looks cool too.

Ya might wanna reconcider the use of the words, "WILL BE". I think you said...

"World War 2 Online" will be the revoloution in simulation gaming...."

Oh man, does that sound familiar. Remember Falcon 4.0? It was that simulation that took 6 years to come out and you needed a can of Raid for the CD. You can ask the Microprose Falcon team on that one. They should have plenty of time to respond since they all got the dreaded pink slip.

I really hope something like that could work, but experience says over ambitious simulation products tend to fail where starting small but SOLID works.

I think HTC is taking the proper route. It seems to work well, although very scaled down in features. You gotta give it time.

If you have 45 plane types, ships, tanks, and troops but the game is a constant crash or warp, or incomplete, you don't have anything.

Anyway, wait to see what it does, then tell me what "IT IS" not what it "WILL BE". I'll certainly check it out.

Thanks for the info though.

Peace,

Creamo

You hit the nail on the head squarely there Creamo.
I have some serious doubts as to the future short term success of WWII Online but they could work them out in the betas.
Unles I get in financially tight times I do not think I'll be cancelling my account with AH. I could see opening an account with a working WWII Online, for those times I'm too tired to fly but I want to lug a rifle or drive a tank.
It's been an outstanding year for flight sim enthusiasts and with several projects going beta this year it won't be dull for a moment that's for sure.

THIS BRINGS UP A GOOD POINT!

All HT and Pyro need to do is throw in some vehicels, a few little ships, a couple of soldiers and....Viola!  It doesnt have to be ANYTHING on the scale of ww2 online but the net results will be very similar.  Also, I doubt the ww2OL will be as affordable.  Remeber, they have nearly 20 mouths to feed vs HTCs 6.

Dont hesitate to challeng them HT.  They will eat you for supper if you give them the chance (even though there all super duper folks).

Have a nice day

Yeager I dearly disagree with you. I don't think AH should fight on WW2Onlines ground. HTC should stay on their territory and build a strong fortress. AH is all about flying those WW2 warbird babies (ok, perhaps a little strat bombing too) - they should (as for my opinion) keep tuning the FMs, bringing out new planes, adding new terrains and last but not least create immersive scenarios. As far as I can overlook it the people here in AH are true ACM fanatics who want to fly and not to sit in any front trench or drive those steel carcasses (???) not to mention about being confied in a steel box several hundred feet below sea level. AH IS the best flightsim (online or box) out there - and it should keep that hill!

Besides all that I haven't seen anything more from WW2Online yet than some screenshots and a short clip of a tank. It does not look any better than any other sim and as you know talk is very cheap. A full scale WW2 sim would be a revolution but I doubt that it can fulfill our expectations yet and besides: You're either an eagle or an earthworm (quiz: from which game did I take this quote..   )
