Video Monitor Crashing

I've determined that what I thought was my video card blacking out is actually my monitor crashing and rebooting. I can't tell if it's overheating or just dying, but it's not that old (about 12 months).

Anyone ever run across this? I've enabled V-synch. Is it possible the came causes the monitor to change refresh rates and it occationally encounters one that causes it to crash?

I don;t know if drivers can be updated for monitors I will look into that. Don;t want to have to bauy a new one.

I'd double check all of the connections for the monitor.  Wouldn't hurt to try and reseat video card too.  Definitely give
things a good once over, before buying a new monitor.  Do you have another computer around, so you can try that monitor
on, to see if works on that one?

I tried the other monitor and it works fine. The picture quality is lousy though.

What if you put the crashing monitor on the other PC?  Does it continue to crash?  Additionally, if you put a fan on it, does it work correctly?  Are the vents on it clean to allow airflow?

I actually have had that before, but not recently. Monitors can and do die. If it's still under warranty send it in. My sister had to send one of hers in 2 or 3 times. Ended up dying again after the warranty was up and we just replaced it. Sometimes you get a lemon.

Just don't get that brand again if you're doubtful about their quality.

I don't have another computer, I use the other monitor with a tv for a cable box. It doesn't crash at Boot, it usually works at start up then starts crashing after a little while. The crashes are sometime often, and sometime seldom. I will look at cleaning it out, in case it overheating due to air path restriction. Beyond that, I'm at a loss.

i have a monitor tv "samsung"

next time i will buy a dedicated monitor it has been a lot of trouble.
