Setting up a joystick for vehicles
« on: July 27, 2011, 05:52:56 PM »
The setup seems to have changed. Can somebody help me setting up an X-52 in the mode-2 vehicle controller menu ? Thanks

With one of the latest updates, vehicle control was completely redone. The only thing the joystick it used for is turning the turret and firing. You steer with rudder pedals or the A-D keys. You use the W-S keys for speed. You can of course map these functions to buttons if you wish.
My Current Rig:
GigaByte GA-X99-UD4 Mobo w/ 16Gb RAM
Intel i7 5820k, Win7 64-bit
NVidia GTX 970 4Gb ACX 2.0
Track IR, CH Fighterstick, CH Pro Throttle, CH Pro Pedals

 Rich,

the 4 way paddle switch on the throttle would make an excellent mapping point, you could map the basic AWSD to it and possibly add a modifier key,any of the buttons,to the shift key. That would allow you to shift+ W to max speed quite easy.

Remember to set mode 2,boats/vehicles,when you go to map the controls.    as an alternative you could map the "T" keys on the JS itself to the AWSD commands.

   hope that helps.

  Rich,

If you select Mode 2 you can program a complete different mapping without affecting your flight setup!

Mode 3 and 4 can also be setup, you could map a bomber setup to your x52 in say mode 3 and adjust your stick controls accoridingly. Mode 4 can be setup for fieldguns/shipguns and you can adjust your stick scaling so as to make aiming easier.  Just remember to select the proper mode for the type of play your doing.

The G13 is a useful device and you can map many keystrokes so if thats easier for you by all means use it,if not and you need any help with the X52,look me up in the TA. I'm on most nights and if you check the roster you should findout quickly if any trainer is available.

Thanks Morf. Thing is i have my X52 mapped in Saitek SST. So I would have to clear a mode to map buttons in AH. Im used to the G-13 cause I use it for all my ground fighting games and freshly mapped a profile last night and had a few sorties. Thanks again. :salute

 Rich,

I must be confussed, easily done... :rofl

When I say mode 2 I mean in AH,which has 4 modes available to program your setup. You can keep the SST programs as they are, just select mode 2 in map controls and program your setup "ingame". You will have to map a button to switch modes and uncheck auto select mode in the clipboard. This shouldnt affect anything with the SST mapping, personally I stopped using the SST long ago as it seemed to cause minor conflicts and I didnt see much that I could program with SST that I couldn't do ingame.

Anyways doesnt really matter so long as you find something that works for you and is easy to use!   BTW is this Bomberich from a year or so ago?/ if so welcome back!

Thanks for the welcome sir. Unfortunatly SST does conflict. Where Im heading is using the G-13 and joystick buttons together. When I left here I moved on to other games where I used the G-13 all the time so Im used to it. Sadly my gameing time is very limited due to a severe illness so I dont spend much time playing anymore and am not sure if I'll be staying in AH. Thanks again for the help and the welcome back.
