Newbie Arena
« on: July 28, 2011, 02:59:13 AM »
Any way we could get a live online "Newbie Only Arena"?  Only players with less than 1,000 accumulated points in all areas (Vehicles, Fighters, Bombers) can enter.  After you hit the 1,000 mark you cannot get back in.  The playing Board does not have to be huge either. :airplane:

oh wow that seems like a nice idea, +1, you can use the TA and the trainers too but having a dogfigth arena just noobs vs noobs could give a nice practice before you fall on the big guy's sigths (like i do all the time)

+1!

Old AW flyer by any chance?  That's how the newbie arena was in that game, after you hit the 10,000 mark you couldn't up a fighter or bomber with any ammo or ordnance.

Don't you lose all your points every time you change your handle? Not that anyone would abuse the system to get easy kills...   :devil

The best way for newbies to fight each other is 1v1 in the DA or TA. In a newbie arena you would only get newbie advice and have newbie examples to follow.

yea... i think the newbies need trainers there to guide them... and their progress would improve exponentially in a much shorter time....

if not....

what i think is that most of the newbies would rather hit the MA st8 for the fame and glory... then be stuck in a newbie arena...thats just my thought

Its said in the training guide (which newbies should be reading) that the best way to learn is to play with better people than you. Sure you'll get shot down every 30 seconds, but its better than the blind leading the blind.

Maybe not have a noob arena but instead an interactive tutorial?  I really want to see more people signing up and joining.

Good advice but it's very frustrating to get shot down every time. Once you learn a few things it's good to practice against other people at your own level.

I really liked this idea at first.  But what about the "gamey" noob that simply spends his perks constantly, flying 4-5 yrs in the "noob" arena killing gobs of baby seals in his Tiger II/262?

I give this a +.1^4.  Server would have to track total earned perks vice total accumulated; that way even even if you only have 40 ftr perks in the bank as soon as you go over 1,000 accrued you get sent to the big leagues.  This mechanic would separate the wheat from the squeeeeek*y chaff.  That said I'm still barely in favor given the I approve of free will and this would be a pain for old players returning to the game...  Maybe down the required total to 3-400 perks total.

well you could make it be for a period of time like 6 months or so and then you can't enter the arena after... you could keep old guys with new accounts out because of their IP or i dont know, the credit card registered, email, whatever you could use to ID the guy.

Create your own arena.  Things like this are why we were given the ability & tools to do so.

I like this one.  :aok

You have to complete the "interactive" tutorial to be able to move out of Sky Camp and into the MAs.

It wouldn't have to be intensive training, just the basics of take off, landing, loading ammo, bombs, fuel, how to raise and lower flaps etc. :huh

Until you "graduate" aprox. 1 hour or less of training you are a number. :cry

Upon graduation it is announced that you can now choose a name!!!  (Boner is taken)

You've got your Wings!!! Now go out and die maggot!!! :airplane:

A little announcement as you leave to die recomends: "For further training please report to the Training Arena where a specialist will train you to die with dignity."

Training Arena. There is always someone @ A1 willing to play a little cat-and-mouse.

-1 for the Noob Arena, but +1,000,000 for the tutorial arena
