Check out this scratch build computer/desk

I was going through a parts request over at CoolerMaster today and found this post. It is amazing what this guy did for his rig.

and I thought I was somewhat overkill with my simpits! Now I know I have room to continue to build rediculous stuff.

i want what he spent on parts for the PC, not the custom box.. the CPU, water cooling, graphics, PSU...everything but the box. the price for the box would be a perk  :O

At the point of drilling holes to the floor it would have been much wiser to place the whole computer under the floor and pull only dvi, usb etc. cabling to the surface.

Super clean, super quiet and simple.

Yeah I guess it depends if you plan to use the computer or have guided tours through your house to see it. :)

Hi,

You are the guy that got me hooked on DCS: Warthog since February.  Just bought into their Black Shark.  Just what I need, another addiction...

My Cooler Master 700 watt PSU and their V8 supercooler have been flawless for over a year.  

My next home built system will be about $2500.  Darn GTX 580 is $500!

$8,000 is about right for the super-addicted.

My desk is probably 100 years old, solid oak, with dual side. top, pull outs whatever they are called.  It is like an executives desk for typing. 

I just made a modular, wooden top insert to cover the top, center drawer, with velcro to hold down my Fighterstick.  I pull the drawer a little ways out so keyboard is right there.  My desk for gaming also doubles as my computer workbench for building new PCs.  Saw a photo of this desk here to forums, a guy had the same desk.

Wow, is this guy like the guy in Brazil that built a 747 cockpit in his spare bedroom?  He had like 8 monitors.

Very elaborate, but not a desk.

It's an installation. It's a permanent fixture. It's not very ergonomic, nor is it very practical. So yes, a work of art, but a convoluted and overly complicated (complicated simply for the sake of being complicated, I'd say) piece of art.

You can't move it or move anything with the computer. Might as well have built a Cray mainframe case with gamer PC parts inside it. That would be just as useful/practical as the link above.

Krusty while I agree that it doesn't look very ergonomically sound in its layout perhaps it is just right for him. Not something I would do and he probably doesn't do a whole lot of gaming but on the other hand why else would you drop in the hardware that he has if you don't game some small amount.

Did you guys notice the sound card he dropped in there? Just the sound card pushed $250USD by itself but it looks like he has the XSense package with the way the sound card looks. http://www.guru3d.com/news/asus-and-sennheiser-work-together-on-xonar-xense-one-premium/ Which was a $350 package last fall.

Excess for the sake of it. He won't ever use a fraction of that card's potential in that rig. He's got headphones for crying out loud! Might as well take a freight train to transport a cup of coffee.

I know exactly what you mean. I just couldn't bring myself to spend that kind of coin on a soundcard. I had a bad enough time accepting the headphones my parents gave me for Christmas which are the PC360 Sennheisers; I love 'em but I am not going to spend that much money on headphones for myself.
