since when could bomber gunners get wounded?
« on: July 31, 2011, 05:37:01 AM »
Was flying a B-25H earlier tonight and got hit in the bellybutton by field acks which wounded my rear gunner.  I've never had this happen before, this something new?

lol b25 gunners are the only ones that get wounded.  and that's since they updated the b25 or introduced it a couple of years ago.

Long time now. Before the B-25 even. I think it was maybe back as far as when we got the B-24, but not sure on exact timeline.

EDIT: I think personally the size of the gunners is too small. I've sprayed hundreds of rounds into the area of gunners (through the bomber fuselage into that area a gunner would be standing) and not disabled the gun or the gunner before. I'd like to see more bomber gunner wounds. I find it very hard to believe I can pump rounds into a tail gunner on, say, a B-24 or B-26 and not either disable the guns or hit the gunner behind them. Seems the bullets go nowhere.

The damage model on the B-26, the tailgun cannot be disabled.

The wounded gunner is apart of the damage model for the B25. Ever had the top turret knocked out? If not when it happens the gun-sight gets all mangled and the turret becomes a bloody mess.

Well there's 2 things. There's the turret getting knocked out, then there's the gunner being wounded, with red splash and tunnel vision blackouts.

The turret knock-out is older than the gunner wound.

i seem to disagree.  i fly the b26 a lot and i have gotten my tail gunner knocked out.  however you can still use the tail gunner to aim and the upper, side gunners will shoot at whatever you are aiming.
