203rd Kokutai A6M5
« on: July 31, 2011, 07:17:17 AM »
This is my skin of a 203rd Kokutai A6M5 based in Japan at the end of the war and is based on the photo below. This aircraft is heavily paint chipped and has had its 203rd tail code painted above a partially obscured previous code from a different squadron. The two fuselage stripes mean this was a squadron leader's aircraft. The white surrounds of the hinomaru markings have been overpainted in green. However this paint has worn away badly on the fuselage side markings, probably due to the exhaust.

I am curious what is in the background with the pranged prop....
Petals floating by,
      Drift through my woman's hand,
             As she remembers me-

It's a Yokosuka D4Y Judy. Most were used as dive bombers but a few were converted into night fighters.
