Drone damage
« on: August 01, 2011, 01:32:09 AM »
I didn't even bother looking this up, because I know it's been asked for/commented on countless times.

When fighting the extremely UNpredictable drones offline, as I'm shooting at them, various pieces are falling off. Good!
But then, once I've poured enough lead into them for them to finally explode and fall into the deathspiral, all of their pieces that have already been shot off,

Shooting him... there goes his outboard wing.

There goes the REST of the wing... still flying. I gotta learn how to do that!!

He's on fire now... still flying.

I've poured almost 600 .50 cal rounds into this guy! He goes down, but there are all of his pieces I just shot off!!!

That's all for now.

Uh, what?

Drones fly with any damage until killed.

No bug here, unless there was something in your incredibly generic report that I missed.

I know they do... what I was saying was that even though I shot off this drones' wing, when it finally had enough bullets fired into it, the wing reappeared, along with all of the other pieces I had shot off. Look at the pictures again, CAREFULLY, and pay attention to the B-24. Watch what's falling off.

There is only one animation for the residue of an explosion. You won't see a match to damaged parts. It's not a bug.

So you're "OK" with the plane flying without any wings, but upset that the resulting explosion isn't realistic?

When fighting the extremely UNpredictable drones offline, <snip>

Lets see they fly around in a predictable circle at a constant speed. Yep that sure is 'UNpredictable'

Offline drones do not fly. They follow a path at a preset speed. So the wing is shot off, but since it's not "flying" it doesn't lose lift.

In the arenas during online play, they WILL lose the wing and fall over. Offline it's just there for target practice.

Try some offline missions.  The AI drones will fall from the sky when damaged enough.  Even just losing a wing.

A "mission" is different from the drones circling the fields, though. He's flying around the field in circles.
