Not belittling anyone.  Having flown against all of them over the years it's a non issue.  The idea that anyone is 'bestest' is just silly.  Good sticks are just that.  Good sticks.  On any given day someone may have an edge, but it proves nothing.  And if you need someone else to tell you who you think is best, you haven't figured it out yet.

Where Lev holds the edge from my perspective is that he never set out to be best, never got to the point he lost his perspective on the 'game', and never claimed to be anything but a cartoon pilot.

Clash of the titans would be fun to watch, you gotta admit.... and perhaps to learn a little at the same time. :aok

Comparisons are impossible and ultimately pointless without dueling.  If you really want to see who is better fight someone like thirty times in a DA in random planes and see.  Of course, most of the time the fight between very good sticks comes down to who missed the shot, who made the good shot, who flew a little better in that given fight, all variables in which vary based on a given day, your rust factor, how long you had been flying that day prior to the fight, if you just awoke from a nap, how focused you are, if you had your V8 juice already, if you got laid the night before, etc.  It would take hundreds of fights spanned over weeks of two top guys who both feel "at their best" to determine truly who is "better".  Since this is a game, there is no incentive for this level of dedication.

Take for example my fights with dedalos, when he was rusty and I was "sharp", I thrashed him in the DA, it wasn't even close, yet months later when I was rusty and he was relatively sharp, he thrashed me.  :furious

True, then factor in each persons internet connections, computer, graphics cards. all these would have to factor somewhat into the equation also, the only way to really know is that all the players played on the same machines (spec wise), in person and the machines hooked up to a Lan style of Play

but like Corky said, if you want to see who is 'better' then you're not there yet.

Not where?

I'm saying that's what it takes, and not just thirty fights but hundreds of fights, which is pointless.

I already know that my skill level is directly correlative to the number of hours I fly per month and duels I partake in, which means that my skill level is directly correlative to the amount of effort I put in, which ultimately is pointless if you are not doing it simply to have fun.  I've been having a blast in the MA the past few months, much more fun than when I was living in the DA.  I'm sure that will change again eventually though.  That is what is great about Aces High and how I never burn out.  There's always a way to mix things up and find fun again.

Some of the best fun I've had in the game was dueling Jase all the time.  We had nothing to prove to one another, we had the utmost respect for each other, and we would try the craziest things in every fight.  That was just plain fun, and it was actually in duels against one another that we "discovered" that the Spit V was a real joy to fly.  We flew everything against one another in every imaginable way - angles fighting, E fighting, spiral climbs, flat turn merges, climbing merges, you name it.

I couldn't possibly tell you what my record against him was.  We never kept count.

But where are the guys that care that other people care?  I would submit they are not there yet either.

Which then begs the question of where am I being one who cares about where people are that care that others care.

Funny you mention Jase.  Was it Quake II that that some of us used to play and you two bastages were so damn quick on the draw, the rest of us never had a chance.  To make it worse there was a way to change the character skins and you and Jase's characters were these little dudes with big heads. My oldest was the only other player that was that quick on the draw :)

haha Geez, I'd totally forgotten about that.  Fun times indeed.  I remember playing some co-op Rainbow Six with +Phnx back in the day too.  That was very fun.  He was quite a bit better at it than I was.
