Heh Italian squadrons flying Spits....

Even worse (to me) is the dozens of "jagdgeschwaders" who fly anything but LW planes  :).

Correct!

After September 43 the Italian cobelligerant squadrons were given Spits and P39s to relief the losses of 202s and 205s...

Nice idea will be, when to add the p39, why not italian markings?  :)

well, about N1K2s... <cough cough>   ;)

p.s.
I like to fly every plane of the planeset, this is not allowed since I'm italian?

Did we really give Spits to liberated Italy? Didn't know that, I must admit!

In that case, it makes more sense.

But it does intrigue me that so many "historic" squads fly around in the "wrong" plane.....

Many of these historic squads are only in the "correct" planes on squad nights when they are flying together as a large group.

Most of the other time, they fly whatever they want and whatever gets the job done for them. No harm in that.

4^ Stormo Caccia never whined about the C.205 or any other axis fiter. Check the stats and you'll discover that we often had the best pilots with the C.205, 109G-10, FW190A-5 and FW190A-8. And during the best AH scenarios we did fly italian a/c, even the C.202 against Spitfires V and IX.

Cannot speak about other squads, tho  :D
"And one of the finest aircraft I ever flew was the Macchi C.205. Oh, beautiful. And here you had the perfect combination of italian styling and german engineering .... it really was a delight to fly ... and we did tests on it and were most impressed." - Captain Eric Brown
