Troops
« on: August 03, 2011, 11:52:53 AM »
Troops have thompsons in their hands. The odd part is they don't use it. Can they have 1 Machine gunner (with a .303) and a bazooka man? Troops should be able to garrison town buildings. Shoot at tanks, light vehicles and other troops. They can also if under fire get on the ground. Destroyed buildings should be able to be garrisoned in but only by the map room. They can throw only 1 grenade. The bazooka has a 4 second delay and the machine gunner after using 50 rounds should take 10 seconds to reload. (More or less)

I was very pleasantly surprised to see that resent update in troop graphics and movements.  Even the chutes were given an upgrade.  What you are asking for has been well recieved by the community in previous posts.  HiTech once added in a response, that in his dreams, the fight in town would become a first person shooter (not an exact quote).

If they do move in this direction, it would be a welcome addition to the ever increasing Tank war and a blessing to returning the air battle to the air and deliver it from the horde straffing ground targets that currently is in place.

Others have asked for something a little different, in the way of troops acting as AI, automatically attacking town buildings.  However the game evolves, I sure hope that this is one alternative that resources allow to advance.

It would be pretty cool to add more to the ground warfare.  I stink in vehicles but that's because I just don't want to stay on the ground, there isn't enough to do.

Make troops fight and we can add more flakpanzers, add landmines, maybe even have small field recon camps that we need to send surveillance planes out to find.

I've proposed this idea in the past on the wishlist.

Have M3's be able to let out troops @ friendly fields / towns equipped with bazookas.  The individual troops would act as landmines whenever an enemy vehicle gets within their range and line of sight.  Troops would disappear as they are killed off or as soon as the player who deployed them starts another sortie or maybe is killed.
If I had a gun with 3 bullets and I was locked in a room with Bin Laden, Hitler, Saddam and Zipp...  I would shoot Zipp 3 times.
