How To Mak a Gunsight
1.}512x512 8-bit bitmap file. 1Mil=2pixel
1Mil=3ft @ 3000ft/1000yd
1Mil=1Ft @ 1000ft/333yd
1Mil=6in @ 500ft/166yd
2.}For 512x512 you will need a (.mil) file with 256 in it. (Gunsight.bmp+Gunsight.mil) Open a text file, name it (Gunsight.mil.txt), place 256 in it and save. Rename that to Gunsight.mil. Put in sight directory with Gunsight.bmp.
3.}Black background.
4.}Best colors in the game orange, yellow and cyan.
5.}Keep lines and circles to 2pixel width.
6.}Most gunsights will accept a main circle of 100Mil diameter. On some you may have to move the default FOV forward to make it fit. The 120Mil for the spits, A6m and N1K2 require this. In Revixx the 100Mil ring should be 2/3 of the width of the glass or there abouts.

It's always a good idea to test your creations against the offline target at 150, 200,300, 400. (.target xxxx) Set your arena time to 01:00 to best resolve the gunsight against the white background of the offline target. In daylight your gunsight will wash out.
A beautiful work of art will be meaningless if you don't have a reference to how your rings, lines and dots work in the game environment. The more neat things you draw in your gunsight the more visual clutter in your line of sight and things you won't remember why they are there during the heat of battle.
