Rail Yard Strat
« on: August 05, 2011, 12:49:55 AM »
I'd like to see transportation added to the strats.  Things like Railyards, truckyards, seaports & Bus Depots.
If I had a gun with 3 bullets and I was locked in a room with Bin Laden, Hitler, Saddam and Zipp...  I would shoot Zipp 3 times.

and they would be needed why? :headscratch:

we already have barges at port, vehicles that resupp base... i think we used to have railroads with trains that shoot back...

i don't deny the awesome fun of having railroads to strafe taking steaming trains out with rockets, or 50 cal...but unless the railroads have some matter of importance, like stopping enemy supply lines, for a substantial period like maybe 15 mins. i reckon we need to focus on how the railroads will work for the game, or how it will effect gameplay...if not it will be like strafing empty barns... that doesn't do anything... and then everyone will just fly over it and not attack it altogether..

destroying them would add a delay to the resupply times.

could we maybe have the railroad station or depot kinda like a base where all the supply trucks run to bases? for example, the supply HQ or factories passes the supply to the trains, then from trains to supply trucks... so attacking it will stop supply for a period of time...seriously... it would be fun to strafe the trains with rockets and 50 cals, and watch secondary explosions...but thats just my opinion...

+1 to railroads, railyards, bridges, tunnels through mountains, etc - all tied to strat and resupply.   Would be great to have valid interdiction targets in the game for behind the lines low level sweeps.

Also, and this may be more difficult to implement, but I would like terrains to have realistic routes for the trains - you shouldn't have RR tracks go up and over a steep mountain - instead they would have to skirt along the side of the mountain.  That may require a change to be able to lay track at an angle to the ground; ie if the moutainside is a 30 degree slope, you'd need the ability to cant the track at 30 degrees to the ground to allow the train to remain upright.

It would look alot more realistic -  as would RR track routes that run alongside rivers in valleys, across destroyable bridges, etc.

Didn't AH1 have destroyable bridges at one time?  I could have sworn, that back in (i think) 2002/2003 you could knock out a bridge ahead of a train, and the train would be destroyed giving you the credit.
