Please join us to commemorate the Battle of Britain, specifically Adlertag or "Eagle Day", which took place on August 13, 1940 and which was the start of the Luftwaffe's attacks against the RAF over British soil.

We will run it in Special Events II arena at 3 pm Eastern time.  All are welcome, and it is an unlimited-life event that will run for 2 hours, but you can play as much or as little of that as you wish.

"What General Weygand called the Battle of France is over. I expect that the Battle of Britain is about to begin. Upon this battle depends the survival of Christian civilization. Upon it depends our own British life, and the long continuity of our institutions and our Empire. The whole fury and might of the enemy must very soon be turned on us. Hitler knows that he will have to break us in this Island or lose the war. If we can stand up to him, all Europe may be free and the life of the world may move forward into broad, sunlit uplands. But if we fail, then the whole world, including the United States, including all that we have known and cared for, will sink into the abyss of a new Dark Age made more sinister, and perhaps more protracted, by the lights of perverted science. Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duties, and so bear ourselves that, if the British Empire and its Commonwealth last for a thousand years, men will still say, 'This was their finest hour.'" -- Winston Churchill, June 18, 1940.

So we can count on a sizeable British presence for this anniversary of the battle, right?  :aok

I'll do my best to represent Brooke.

Tangmere really is a mine of information and lots of interesting artefacts from the war/bofb.   It was too windy for the spits to refuel and do their flypast but I did encourage the RAF cadets manning the spitfire simulation to download AH!!

I'll pollute the skies with a squeaker spitfire wing   :old:

Folks, please work to recruit your pals to play as well (or even if they aren't your pals -- you can recruit them to fly on the other side).

We need to get the word out, and the best way for that is for players to tell other players.
