203rd Kokutai A6M2
« on: August 07, 2011, 03:12:39 AM »
This is a skin of a 203rd Kokutai A6M2 night fighter based in the Kurile Islands in 1944. The scheme is a dark shade of green all over, except for the cowl, which was left black. I'd guess the A6M2 would have been chosen for this role as its exhausts exited below the fuselage. The A6M3 was long out of production at this time and the A6M5's side mounted exhausts would have affected the pilot's night vision.

I think this will be my last A6M for now, can't find decent photos of any others with schemes I'd want to do. May do a few Tiger Is and IIs next.

Very nice!  Job well done as usual.   :salute  However, I ask that you tackle some RAAF P40E skins, namely the 75th Fighter Squadron!   :pray   :)
