Commonwealth Ponys.
« on: August 07, 2011, 08:44:45 PM »
Since pony skins are in fashion I thought I would start adding a few Commonwealth pony's from time to time for the skinners to consider.

Yes that is right other country's flew this aircraft other than the USA.

So starting off SAAF 5 squadron Sweet Pea.

Mustang Mk.IVa, 5 Sqn SAAF, GL-N, serial unk, Pilot: unk, Italy, circa May 1945.
RAF Dark Green/ Ocean Grey/ Med Sea Grey scheme. White codes, Red Spinner & Black serials. RAF Sky fuselage band
has been painted out.  Black/White insignia below the cockpit as per detail drawing. 40" 'C' type upper wing roundels.
Roundels and fin flash have the Orange centres often associated with SAAF airframes.

RAAF 3 Squadron Anita.

FTJR has a bare metal pony from this squadron in waiting so here is a camo version as well. I have a lot more aircraft from this squadron if any one wants to dig deeper.

Mustang Mk.IVa, 3 Sqn RAAF, CV-W, KH755, 'Anita', Pilot: Lew Ranger, Cervia, Apr 1945.
'Firewall' pattern using the ANA colours of 613 Olive Drab & 603 Sea Grey upper surfaces with 602 Light Grey lower surfaces. White codes, Red Spinner &
Black serials.  Medium Blue rudder with White Southern Cross.  Name 'ANITA' carried in Yellow lettering.  The upper wing roundels are of the 40" 'C' type.

Anita would be cool, especially having our squad art on the tail.
No thank you Turkish, I'm sweet enough.

Nice epics. I've never seen a louvered vent panel on the underside of the nose, either solid or with holes.

Yeah, the louvres aren't usually seen on the breather panels until the Mk IV Mustang. A few Mk IIIs had them too.
