What about drive train alignment Von? Does that mod mess with your drive shaft alignment?

The JK has 33's. Guess I'll stay with those. But I need to get a new top for it. Going with the sloped-back looking one.$$$ And I am thinking of ditching the plastic fenders.

Drive train is same.  2" body lift.

I had to drop the radiator by 2", though.  Some folks would say to just drop the shroud, but I wanted to keep the fan centered  on the radiator.

I also had to cut a chunk of the trans hole cover, inside the tub, to clear the shifter handle.   I did not have enough clearance to use 2nd, 4th, 6th gear(s) or reverse  






I also have to fab a 2" drop for the 4x4 bracket tonight as the linkage didn't like the lift...

As for the extra clearance... 2in was enough to begin with  We bring a 110ft C-123 into a hangar with 105ft doors... how you ask? well we arent magicians... we just take off the wingtips even then, we still only have 1-3in clearance on each side to squeeze in.

Then again, we have clipped the door once while taking it out and had to fix the aileron... so maybe its better safe than to be sorry

I wouldn't go more than 2" with a body lift.  I've seen 4"-6" body lifts and they are plain scary.  The length of the bolts needed are enough to keep me awake at night.

When my current springs/shocks get tired, I will do a 2" suspension lift, also.  This combined will give me the 4" I am looking for without the driveline geometry issues normally associated with a 4" suspension lift such as vibration and will save me the expense of having to buy a slip yoke eliminator or drop the transfer case (which kinda defeats the purpose of lifting for clearance in the first place)

That's a common problem with the TJ.... One advantage to the JK is that you can run 33x12.50/17 tires without rubbing on the flairs. Add a 2" budget lift and you can run 35x12.50/17 without rubbing, even with the front sway bar disconnected. By the way, stock JKs are sold with 32" or 30" tires depending on options or package. I'm running 33" Coopers on factory Moab mags with 1.5" Spidertrax to avoid rubbing on the front sway bar. I have an auto-locker (Aussie Locker) up front, with Trac-Loc Dana 44 in the rear. Plus, all JKs have Brake-Lock differentials, which isn't quite as good as locking diffs, but damn close. TJs require considerable expenditure to get up to the stock JK level. But then again, that's why the JK was designed - to improve upon the TJ. It's bigger, heavier and more expensive as a result. I drive my JK every day, but I'm actively looking for a low mileage TJ to build into a weekend Jeep. I found a really nice looking 2003, but a Carfax showed it has been in a major accident... Too bad.
