I just hope this new found "confidence" doesn't spread to the U.S.  :( :pray

It already has. Philly's imposed a curfew because mobs of kids were going out and getting violent and trashing property.

Otherwise, I'm pleasantly surprised that we have more in common than in contrast here. Even Bab is a 2nd amendment supporter, even if he differs on the impact of legal ownership on the likelihood of criminal use.

See, guys like us would probably serve better by cordoning off council estates than by bickering with each other... but, ah, the concept of the self-policing state appears to have abdicated to the nannies-in-chief. They'd be horrified and call it vigilantism. That goes for me too - no time or energy to organize for a better social environment...

Cue Floyd's "Me and You", then recognize that the West is crumbling. We live in interesting times.

They weren't just mobs of kids.  It was more specific.

You know Gilmour's son was swinging from a WWII memorial during the tuition riots.   :D

I guess the poor kid couldn't afford an education.

(Image removed from quote.)

That isn't David's kid.   It's Polly's from her previous marriage.   Charlie has always been a "renegade" though, sort of like his adopted Dad.    During a spell of boredom in 1970 while in Arizona, David decided to drive a motorcycle into the hotel and parked it at his band mate's table.    :aok

two of my friends got their butts kicked last year by these mobs. they were usually somewhere around broad and south,.......one of said friends kicked 2 or 3 tulips before he had to get out of dodge.......but you see what i mean though.

I'll second that after screwing up a simple title from probably the most famous album ever published.

Otherwise, Assi, I just wanted to say regarding that Philly thing, I'm interested in punishing criiminals. I don't care so much what they look like - just that they be punished to the maximum extent possible. I don't believe the state's going to do much good at fixing any cultures; will probably just make it worse. Civilizations have order and provide a penal system for miscreants. Without that, we have anarcho-tyranny.

Not directly, no. However, consider that, here in the US, similar incidents will break out every time there's a plausible excuse. Look at Katrina as another example. In Britain the perps may live in the council estates, here, the projects...
