when I squeeze the trigger, the crosshair disappear along with some cockpit instrument.

Which F4U is that and what are your advanced graphics settings?

I'll try to replicate tonight.

It did it in the -1A, -1C and -1D. Not in the -1 and the -4.

Maxing out the advanced graphics fixed it for me. I'll fiddle a bit to find what were the settings used when it did this.

I use 1920x1080 resolution, 2048 texture full AA along with shown previous setting. The "object self shadow" check box is the culprit. If it is unchecked, it cause the condition shown in the OP.

I usually run it maxed out but the setting keep changing by themselves as it takes a few seconds for the frame rate to stabilise. That's why I ran into this.
