Hi Res pack question

So...  I have the game resolution set at 2048.  When the new patch installed, I logged in to the game and looked at the way the game looked.  Then I shut it down and downloaded and installed the Hi-res pack.  Back in the game...  I can't see any difference.

How can you be sure the Hi Res pack is installed correctly?  I'm not convinced that I have it right...

Make sure the hires pack is not there.  Rename the hires file (can't think of the name offhand, edit: hirestex.res, just rename it so the program can't find it when it launches)

Up a 190.  Look at the seat back.

Install the hires pack.

Up the same model 190.  Look at the seat back.

The small print should be way clearer on the hires pack.

I can't get the hires pack 2252 working on my Win7 Pro system.
