Serious question
« on: August 15, 2011, 11:54:19 PM »
It was suggested by a squaddie that I post this and note the tinted lenses on the pilot's goggles as a hint that HTC should model that for us so we can fight the sun a bit better.

Note that while he is a squeaker, the pilot is standing in front of his P40E which is not EZ mode.

I believe (my opinion only) that the sun glare exists so that pilots that want to use the tactic of "diving from out of the sun" can be used.  I see no reason to change this.  In AW there was a super tiny sun that made it all but impossible to do this.  I prefer our sun.  That being said how about a thread on how to successfully perform an attack from out of the sun.

That can't be a P40, the tires aren't nearly large enough!   :rofl

Don't forget climbing into the sun for defense, after having it done to me once I made note of how effective it is (Icon disappears and the plane is barely visible). Its saved me a bunch of times and turned some fights around too

Doesn't the AH sun seem a tad huge and blinding no matter where it is on the horizon?

Ahh but there's a simple explanation to that. As you can see from the desert paint scheme, that particular P-40 must be from North Africa and has small tires - good for sand. Now if it was from the Aleutians it would have gigantic tundra tires to help cope with the snowy conditions, and that's a fact. ;)

Well he got in the Mustang, but got back out.  He didn't want to be known as a pick dweeb.

Guppy btw, what's that protrusion on the right wing in relation to the pilot?

An unorthodox guncam installation or what?

if that is the reason, then there should be a method of defeating the glare, just as they did in rl.

 that said......cool pic guppy.  :aok

I'd be happy with a sun that doesn't shine through the Mountains.

Isn't he a little old to be taking bases?   :bolt:

Jokes aside, how would they model it? Would you want a 3D image of someone pulling goggles down off the helmet? In addition, didn't some of the German sights have an optional tint lens that would filter out some of the sunlight?
